“Delicious Authentic Mexican Food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

I always order too much! Very generous servings of tacos, burritos, enchiladas, all the usual suspects, but, REALLY fresh and great-tasting. All entrees come with choices of organic sides, like rice, veggies, salad. Their guacamole and fresh salsas are excellent. Lots of vegetarian options and a vegan plate, as well. They offer beer, wine, house-made margaritas, and many organic juice options. Prices are very reasonable!
My favorites are the veggie burrito and the flautas. Both red and green chile sauces are offered, be sure to try both.
It can be very crowded at lunch, but, worth the wait!

“The Real Deal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

We had a delightful lunch on a Saturday afternoon here at La Cocina de Luz. This is not shopping mall "Tex Mex". The food is authentic, home-made, fresh and well-flavored. It's very casual....you wait on yourself to a certain extent, but that's part of the fun. Great salsa bar (home-made, of course) and a nice selection of Mexican beers as well.

“Yummy, affordable food option on Main St. in Telluride”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

This is a great option for street food without paying upscale restaurant prices. I had a delicious spanakopita (2 pieces for $4) and a healthy tropical smoothie for $5. Definitely worth considering if you are in a hurry or want a quick picnic.

“Wonderful, authentic Mexican restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

This restaurant, on "Main Street", has its own special approach to dining, beginning with breakfasts. You gather a menu at the entrance, order from a counter, pay and get your drinks, get your own chips and salsa and water, select your table, and the food is brought to you. There is both an interior and an exterior patio, with tables under awnings. The menu offers a wide variety of options. It is possible to get a meat-free blue-corn tamale, but then you can also get it in more traditional forms. Optional sides include excellent al dente veggies. The kitchen operations are visible on the way to the patio, with busy cooks listening to Mexican music as they work. From the patio, there are good views of surrounding mountains. An advantage is that the restaurant operates continually for 13 hours starting at 8 a.m.
