My wife and I had our anniversary dinner at the 221 Oak Street restaurant, on the recommendation of the San Sophia B&B, only a block away. It was very expensive, as are many places in Telluride, but was worth it for the special occasion. The bistro ran out of the elk tenderloin (it was extremely crowded with musicians who were in town for the chamber music festival!), but we liked the filet mignon and the mixed greens with feta and grapes in a lemon fig vinaigrette. For dessert, the fresh Palisade peach cobbler and the double chocolate cake with almond tuile were amazing! The wine selection was superb, and I tried a glass of wonderful 2001 Rutz Sonoma County Pinot Noir. Overall, this is a great place for special occasion dinners, but is a tad expensive for anything else.
