“Good, but won't choose again”

Bear Creek is a nice condo system, and the staff is truly exceptional, but it is not where we would choose again. The units are nice and clean, although they are clearly intended to be able to divide even the larger units into single bedroom units. The result is that the larger units are almost maze like. We had a lovely view, but this property is nothing special. It is definitely NOT ski in ski out. The only access to the slopes is via free shuttle, which runs constantly, or via funicular, which is a tiny little "gondola" like car that takes you to a slope. We prefer to stay closer to the slopes, and assumed ski in ski out meant truly that! A wonderful time in Telluride....but will pick different lodging next time.

Booked my family of six into a three bedroom condo for four nights and discovered views of the parking lot, although the photo's on the web site did not disclose this. One of the baths had no light bulbs over the vanity and after three days of complaints and offers to put them in myself, they finally showed-up for the last night. On-site maintenance seems poor or non-existent. Several other bulbs were burned -out!

But here is the worst part; there was an abandonded car / suv in said parking lot with a security alarm that went-off all night long from aprox 11:00 PM to 7 or 8 AM for TWO nights. Calls to the front desk on the first night went unanswered as no one was there after 11PM. Complaints the following day to the front desk 'manager' were met with "... go ahead and call the police and ask them to tow the vehicle. It's OK with us as the car has been there for over two weeks and we don't know who it belongs to". My response was " I am the guest and it's your private property. This is your responsibility." Same problem for the second night. Two nights, six people, no sleep.

After calls and e-mails to the reservation booking company (Mountain Reservations) as well as the management company (Silver Star Resorts) asking for some form of reimbursement for the two nights, we were told "NO, can't help. We thought that you were fine".

Conclusuion: Inexperienced and unprofessional staff at the Lodge. NO customer service from the management company nor the booking agent. I cannot recommend either of these.

“Large units; limited views”

Bear Creek Lodge

The condo's in the Bear Creek lodge are spacious, clean and well-appointed. There is also a free shuttle van operated by the resort which ferries guests to the gondola system (necessary since the gondola is a bit of a hike from the lodge.) However, the lodge is built into the side of a mountain and flanked by a huge grove of aspen trees. So unless your unit is on the top floor, there is no view or limited views of the mountains or ski area. Also, the units on the lower levels don't get much of a breeze....which is a problem in the summer months.
