“Everything Was Easy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2012

We arrived around 4pm and the check-in was very easy. I booked through booking.com because the website showed the lodge was booked for the nights we needed. We were there for a wedding and the lodge provided free van service to the gondola down to the town of Telluride. However it is an easy walk to the gondola as well. We were just pressed for time. There is a market as well as a coffee stand at the gondola station. We had a one bedroom, one bath condo with a small balcony overlooking the pool. There is an exercise room as well. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The only reason I am withholding a 5 rating is because the sofa bed padding was gone - we were literally sleeping on springs (our two grandchildren were with us) and there were no curtains/blinds in the living room which caused the kids to wake up way too early! We tried to adapt by hanging blankets as best we could on the windows. The management said they would attend to this. Many of the condos had already had the sofabed matress replaced. All in all, it was the best and most convenient place for us. We got way more than we expected!!

Friendly check in, room was basic with two twins disguised as king and bunk beds. Somewhat cramped and sheets need to be replaced due to pilling/wear. Shower was lacking on water flow. No a/c so night was a little warm for us because we didn't want to leave windows open. Great pool and firepit area/grill. Even included skewers for roasting marshmallows so we were able to have s'mores! I would consider staying again in bigger room, but not this one.

Dear Bear Creek Lodge guest,
Thank you for taking the time to review Bear Creek Lodge! We apologize for the condition of the sheets and we replaced them immediately. The bed you are referring to is called a split king. We have these in all of our rooms so that there is an option of having a king bed or 2 twins. We are excited you enjoyed our pool area and fire pit. Nothing like have s'mores around a fire pit!
We look forward to having you back at the lodge in the near future!

This is the 3rd year in a row that we've spent at the Telluride Jazz Festival and now in a different property. Kitchen was much bigger than we anticipated and fully stocked with appliances and serving dishes. The lodge has free transportation throughout Mountain Village and also free parking! [which is usually $20.00/day at most lodges.] We definitely recommend the Bear as a great stay in Telluride.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2012

Our room was @6' wide and 20' deep, opening up for two twin beds, a desk & chair and just enough room to turn around, sort of like a fancy jail cell. Turns out it is a bedroom as part of a larger condo with private entrance. Very clean, but no house cleaning unless you stay 5 nights. Claim of hotel-wide WiFi was never experienced, coffee maker (with decaf only) did not include cups; no glasses either. On the other hand the staff was terrific, responsive and helpful. And they are pet friendly.

Room Tip: Rent a full condo; stay a week or more.

This is a beautiful place. Our 3 bedroom with forest view was perfect. Living area is large, kitchen is large enough for at least 2 cooks. Every amenity is offered, and so well stocked. The lodge was full, but there was no noise to be bothered by. The staff is friendly and obviously want to be sure you are happy. The shuttle will take you to 4 or different places in the village, and most importantly to the gondola. The gondola is free for everyone, and it peacefully carries you to several locations including downtown Telluride. No traffic, no stress parking, and a beautiful ride over the top of San Sophia mountain. This will be our vacation routinely to escape the July Texas heat!

Room Tip: Forest view rooms are very quiet and are numbered with lowest numbers. Such as-301-305 Mountain vi...
