The hotel itself have amazing views and wonderful ammenities. The staff was somewhat pleasent as well. The room was perfect for the price and there are so many things to do in Telluride. The one thing I hated was the concierge Kristen. She was very snotty towards my family and I and knew harldy a thing about the town. Aren't the concierges supposed to have the most knowledge of the town? How can you reccomend a place to guests that you know nothing about? I think the front desk supervisor.. Sonya? knew more than the concierge. Also the other concierge Micheal always seemed to smell like acohol and didnt look like he showerd at all. Quite disgusting. If you want to have a great trip to Telluirde this is a great place to stay, but make your own dinner reservations, this way you wont have to deal with the acoholic concierge or the snotty one that talks down to you... good luck in your finding and i hope this helps you make a descion on where to stay.

The property and rooms are nice and what you would expect based on the description.

Hotel tax is 12.4% and resort service fee is 5.4%, also what you would expect but at nearly 20% it makes the price steep.

Of particular concern is the $20/night fee to park your car, even in the off season (and I mean the way-off season). I think I might have been the only person in the hotel, and I still got hit with this charge.

If travelling to Telluride/Mountain Village, do not rely on the free shuttles or gondolas to get around. The gondolas are shut down for maintenance, and the free shuttles only run about once per hour, so a car is almost a necessity.

If you want to save the $20 in parking, you can park overnight in the nearby parking garage behind the grocery (5 min. walk, so unpack the car first). They won't tell you about this at the desk.

“Noisy, cheap, NOT recommended”

Mountain Lodge at Telluride

We stayed at the Mountain Lodge in the Summer of 2006. We had an obnoxious party above us for two nights and even after multiple complaints to the management, nothing was done. The furniture, etc is very cheap. The walls are thin. You are treated very poorly as a guest here. I would recommend staying elsewhere. Don't just stay here for the pool - it is about the size of a bath tub. The only positive thing I have to say about this place is the bartender. He was great - even though he had to deal with not having a credit card machine behind the bar. This place cuts corners - spend your money elsewhere.

The day before we arrived, I happened to call to ask whether we could extend our stay a day or two. The woman at the front desk admitted it was a good thing I called because she had forgotten to assign us a room and we would have arrived with no room prepared for us (2 adults and 3 young children!). However, she said she would assign us a room and that yes, we could extend our stay. On that note, I called and changed our return airline reservation. Once we arrived, after having checked into our room, I got a phone call saying that the room was not available for the extra 2 days. When I went to the front desk to get the issue straightened out, I was met by a very abrasive reservations manager who threw in you reserved through bookit.com--we don't even have a negotiated rate for you. I'm not really sure how that played into the situation that I was told we could extend our stay, but arrived to be told the contrary.
As for cleanliness, the refrigerator reeked of spoiled milk and despite the fact that I told this to the front desk several times, no one ever came to try to clean it or fix the situation. Surfaces were caked with dust (not just days' worth). Housekeeping was lame at best.
The concierge, while sweet, was clueless. Every one of the dinner reservations we asked for was made for the wrong day. She advised us to take the children to thrill hill to go tubing on a Tuesday, and that activity is only offered Wed - Sun.
The hot tub they mention is at the main lodge, away from the accommodations, and is usually filled with active (read: jumping, splashing) unsupervised children. I believe the parents were probably at the bar inside the lodge, from where the children could be seen--but this was a tremendous nuisance, nonetheless--not to mention a safety issue for the children. The only friendly staff at the hotel were the brazilian guys who served as bell boys and shuttle drivers. The rest of the staff were indeed unfriendly and without any sense of customer service. The only person on the staff who really took an interest in helping was the assistant manager, Karen. She is head and shoulders above the rest of the staff and would be better served to work elsewhere (it's hard to soar with the eagles when you work with a bunch of turkeys).
There is no food service on the property. The closest place where one can be served a meal is down in the village. To get there (or anywhere, really), you have to call the front desk to send a shuttle to take you to the gondola which will then take you to the village or the town. The nearby market is fairly well stocks, but in general it is fairly overpriced, as one would expect in a resort area.
My personal recommendation would be to stay either IN the village, or downtown--either one would be far more convenient.

“Very nice rooms, no ski in/ski out.”

I liked my stay at the mountain lodge, the rooms were nicely furnished, and bigger than most I've stayed in, but everyday, the hotel had a BULLDOZER come in and plow the ski in/ski out. Every day I had to hike across their extensive parking lot to get to the mountain. I advise not to choose for ski in/ski out. Also, I left my battery for my brand new, professional camera their, and called immidiately after leaving asking them to notify me when they found it, and ship it back to me... 3 days, no notification. Otherwise, I could post my picture of the hotel's bulldozer ruining their S.I/S.O.
