“Very nice rooms, no ski in/ski out.”

I liked my stay at the mountain lodge, the rooms were nicely furnished, and bigger than most I've stayed in, but everyday, the hotel had a BULLDOZER come in and plow the ski in/ski out. Every day I had to hike across their extensive parking lot to get to the mountain. I advise not to choose for ski in/ski out. Also, I left my battery for my brand new, professional camera their, and called immidiately after leaving asking them to notify me when they found it, and ship it back to me... 3 days, no notification. Otherwise, I could post my picture of the hotel's bulldozer ruining their S.I/S.O.

“Beautiful Property”

Mountain Lodge at Telluride

We stayed at Mountain Lodge in January 2007.

This property was fabulous and we had a wonderful experience all the way around. The one bedroom had a very nice kitchenette and very comfortable furnishings. I absolutely loved the full log construction of the buildings which added to the atmosphere of an already beautiful mountain town. There is a heated pool and hot tub which was wonderful after a day on the slopes. It was also very convenient being located between two ski runs and a short walk to the gondola/market.

We did experience the noise of guests in nearby rooms but usually was brief and never late at night. The third night we were there, we had a problem with our TV which was replaced the next morning. We loved the Mountain Lodge and would definitely recommend it to anyone!

“Lodge Room is a Bust!”

Mountain Lodge at Telluride

Feb 11, 2007

I am a frequent traveler and was visiting Telluride for a business meeting. The meeting was at the Peaks resort and had no availability, so the meeting director recommended the Mountain Lodge. They booked me in a “Lodge Room” for at the web special of $239.00/night + $20/night parking. The lodge rooms are basically bedrooms from a condo that they lock the joining door and rent out as a one bedroom. They are very small with a tiny TV, closet, bed and small chair. There is no coffee maker, fridge, luggage stand, ice bucket, etc… I called on two occasions to get ice. Both times I was asked if my freezer was broken, in which, I had to explain that I don’t have one. The first time they brought me ice in a little bag from the bar, and of course expected a tip (I was unable to go get it myself because the bar tender was not on service). That took 40 minutes to get and they don’t provide a bucket. The second time I waited for over an hour and they never showed. When I asked about it later, the staff all played dumb and said they didn’t know about it. My bathtub drained so slow that your shower became a bath. I complained about this and in 4 days no one ever tried to repair it. The room smelled of old moister, probably from previous wet ski gear. There is no ventilation in the lodge rooms and only a little wall heater which barely keeps the room warm at night. I was also upset that they advertised that they would provide free shuttle in the morning to the Peaks for the meeting, but every morning the guy was too busy to take us so we had to walk (20 min. walk). I found the staff to be unfriendly. The hot tube is very small and not very clean. There is no restaurant on site. They advertise DVD rentals, but the lodge rooms have no DVD player or a way to hook one up. The only pro to this property was that you can ski in/out and there is ski rental upstairs. Good luck if you get stuck here!

“The good and the bad...”

Mountain Lodge at Telluride

The good:
Great scenery, easy access to a green slope (double cabins, I believe), great free local shuttle service (very professional gentlemen from Brazil ran the shuttle), short walk to Village Market and gondola, rooms were nice (see below also), Nancy in reservations was very nice and helpful, Christy's Sports (a separate business) is on the second floor of the main lodge for ski rental-Chris was very helpful, easy 1st floor ski storage in your building, FYI, Mt Lodge guests get 10% off rentals at Christy's or if you book on line 5 days in advance 20% off.

The bad:
If you are a light sleeper this is not the place for you, the walls seem very thin. Some of the rooms have connecting doors which makes the problem worse. I would suggest getting a top floor, to reduce the noise. Some of the front desk people seem completely disinterested in customer service. They seem to have this what-ever attitude. Keep in mind this is not the busy front desk at MGM in Vegas. They dont work for tips, maybe thats the problem?? One day around noon, while leaving our room, we talked to a housekeeper in the hallway, to let her know we would be out of our room for awhile so it was clear to clean it when she had time. Her response was, "oh just when I thought I was done" and this was not said jokingly. I walked down the hall and thought about it, turned around back to our room, which she was in now, and told her if you were leaving for the day, dont worry about clean our room. She then says "oh no its ok". It seems like customer service is either very good or very bad, no in between.

Overall we loved the views, skiing, and location, but would probably pick other places to stay next time.

“Gorgeous!”

This was my second trip to Telluride (stayed in the Franz Klammer the first time - which I also loved). Mountain Lodge is a beautiful set of cabins off of one of the easy runs. We had a small suite which included a jacuzzi, and had a separate living room and bedroom. Gorgeous furnishings - very western with a lot of style. We had fun cooking in the suite several nights.

Telluride also has fantastic food - Sophios for western-style breakfast, Rustico for an amazing Italian dinner, Cosmopolitan - particularly to try unusual meats. Great/scenic bars - especially the one along the gondola.

Advice - take a ski tour one day so that you learn your way around the mountain. There is a lot of terrain for every experience level!
