“True Colorado Experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013

My husband and I went to Telluride to celebrate our anniversary and we stayed at the Mountain Lodge at Telluride in Mtn.Village. What a wonderful experience. All staff members were helpful (especially Raul, Benny and Kevin). They went out of their way to make sure our experience was memorable. It is an easy walk to the Gondola which takes you into town. Our room had a wonderful kitchen, nicely appointed living area and a comfy bed! It exceeded our expectations! My husband and I agreed that this was one of our favorite vacations. We will definitely go back!

Spent a long weekend at the Mountain Lodge at Telluride this past weekend. It was a lovely mountain hotel that let us bring our two dogs with no problem. Once parked and unloaded we never needed to use the car again the whole weekend! The hotel was located about 5 minutes walking distance to the gondola which took you everywhere you needed to go in town. Can't wait to come back in the winter and ski this iconic mountain!

Room Tip: Junior Suite was great! Full kitchen and plenty of room to relax in between adventures

Hello Pamela!

It's great to hear that you and your dogs enjoyed your stay in Telluride! Not needing a vehicle is certainly one of the great things about visiting Telluride and we're sure that the dogs appreciated the ample opportunities for hiking, as well. We hope to see you again in the winter!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

We stayed in room 4111, a JR. Suite, 8-17-13. Our room was immaculate, and was everything we had read about it. Full kitchen with everything you would need and more if you were staying for more than a day or two, including a dish washer & the all famous blender if you want to whip up a batch or Margs.; we only stayed one night. Kitchen had a table with 4 chairs so a family or couples could comfortably eat there.

Room was so clean and comfy with a Queen bed. Bathroom was very nice with a beautiful stone bath/shower combo. Bathroom sink & "make-up" area was very spacious. Lots of fluffy towels and 2 thick bath robes were hanging in the closet. Lamps and a big screen TV in the bedroom as well as windows that opened.

Living area was very nice with fireplace that was dual - from the bedroom and also the living room. Because of the warm weather we did not use the fireplace. Living room was spacious with a comfy couch that turned into a sleeper. Big flatscreen TV and also a little "boom-box for music. The balcony was what I loved in this room, so private... Two chairs and a little table between them. Open the balcony door and there was a brook that trickled 24/7. Our balcony did not have a view except through the thick trees, which I liked. The balcony sides were covered up so you just got the feeling that your outside area was private. Even though our room was 4111, it was only on the 2nd floor of the building we stayed in.

We pulled up to the Lodge and it was very busy, check in time. The pool and hot tubs are right at the entrance and with a fantastic view, but all we heard at that time was "Marco Polo", lots of kids........... Next time we stay will be a week later after the kids are back in school.

We knew about the $20 night parking fee, so were prepared for that. What we didn't know about was the distance from the "Lodge" to the building we were staying at. So we check in and drive down to our building, the road is steep. We unload our stuff and drive back to the lodge to valet our car. Then we are thinking, we have to walk back to our room, an 1/8th of a mile, down this steep road again and then walk back up to WALK to the Gondolas, or wherever we want to go........ We soon discovered Pedro who takes people back & forth in a golf cart, from their building to the Main Lodge. Also he has a Van that he will take you from your building to the Gondolas. This info. may seem stupid/boring to you but if you or someone in your party has limited mobility, like we have, than it is important info...... Two/Three bucks a trip and it was all good......

The Gondolas are so close to the Lodge and sooo fun to ride! They run from 7 am to 12 am and are free. They are the main transportation into Telluride; not only for tourists but locals and they are free. Also, they are dog friendly if you have your "baby or two" with you.... We took the Gondolas from Mountain Village, (after getting a ride from Pedro), to the base of Mountain
Village and then down to Telluride. Telluride was so beautiful and like other Mountain Towns in CO had many fun, quaint shops/bars/restaurants. We bought bagels, coffee cake and OJ @ "Baked in Telluride" for the next morning because we knew the Mountain Lodge didn't provide a continental breakfast.

After a great/beautiful Gondola ride back to Mountain Village and our Mountain Lodge, we decided to eat @ The Mountain Lodge. Lodge/bar was not crowded at all so makes me think there were other places to go for "action/better food" on the Mountain & in Telluride. Lodge had the bar doors open to the pool area and the view was just spectacular; so pretty!!! Bar had a very limited menu. My husband & I split the pasta dish that was $19.00 which came with NO bread or salad; it was ok.. We were not being thrifty, just had enjoyed a full lunch in Cortez a few hours before and were not really hungry. After 3 glasses of "house" wine and our shared entree, our bill was 56$, so you know why I had stopped previously @ "Baked in Telluride" for our breakfast.......

We are 50/70 somethings so that makes a difference to you readers. If you come here to bike, hike, golf, swim, ski, etc., you will love the options here, everything you want. We are more the type that do things that are not very physical.........

I have heard that the JR suites are actually condos that are individually owned. If that is the case, our unit was so up to date and taken care of; it was a treat to stay there for one night. Everything was so clean and beautiful; again, loved the balcony.

Would highly recommend this place to folks that don't have a problem walking a bit to get places.....

Our JR suite was very pretty, clean, all that was advertised and quiet, we did not hear anybody below or above us.

Hello Annabelle!

Thank you for taking the time to post a very detailed review of your experience in Mountain Village and the Mountain Lodge. We are glad you enjoyed the room and the surrounding area of Telluride. We strive to take care of all of our guests, regardless of age, and your feedback is useful as we work to best prepare for the needs of different types of people. While Telluride clearly has a lot of allure for people interested in the outdoors, there are more and more activities for those that just want to relax and enjoy the view, as well, including a great selection of galleries, boutiques, restaurants, a great museum, spa services, and a great variety of summertime festivals. We truly hope you had a memorable visit with us and that you will consider visiting us again in the future.

This was our third time here and we will be back to stay in one of the cabins, which are phenomenal! Only would make two suggestions: expand and upgrade the fitness center. Also, show more photos and virtual tours online and show off the cabins!

If you want to pay $20 for parking and have a tiny room with paper thin walls, this is the place for you. I am giving it 3 stars because it is less than a 5 minute walk to the gondola station and we got a great deal on Priceline, so we got what we paid for.

Hello Katie K!

We are glad you had the chance to come to Telluride and that you chose to stay with us! We do offer the Lodge rooms, which are, indeed, small, as a way for budget minded travelers to come stay in Mountain Village. However, for a relatively small amount more, we offer Junior Suites and One Bedroom Suites which have over 3 times the space, a kitchen, a balcony, fireplace, and a king bed instead of a queen. Since these rooms tend to be the most economical way to get into Mountain Village during our very busy summer season, we do see a lot of bookings on websites such as Travelocity, which does mention of a surcharge for parking. I like to recommend calling a property to prospective guests prior to booking a room at any hotel, just so that one may get a better idea of exactly what to expect. Just the same, we hope you enjoyed your time in Telluride and that, even if you choose not to stay with us, you will come visit our mountain town again.

Have a great day,
Doug
