I was a little nervous about staying at Mountain Lodge after reading mixed reviews here on TripAdvisor. My husband and I just returned from our Memorial Day weekend stay and we can only say good things about the lodge. We stayed in a one bed condo unit. The unit was equipped very nicely: it had a comfortable bed, dual fireplace, and a great kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances (fridge, dishwasher). There was a stovetop but no oven, but that didn't really matter to us as we only used the fridge and microwave anyway. The tiled shower in the bathroom was amazing, it was one of the best I have ever experienced in a hotel. The living room area was very comfy with two big chairs and a leather sofa. There was a small balcony off the living room, which didn't have mountain views but did overlook a stream, which made for some nice background noise while we sat outside. It was a few minutes walk to the gondola but it was not a big deal. The views from the gondola going from Mountain Village to Telluride were amazing! There was a market right by the gondola station (not far from the lodge) where we bought groceries. There was also a liquor store next door. We did not use the pool, hot tub or exercise room at the lodge so I can't really comment on those, but I can say that the view from the pool/hot tub area was spectacular. We went to the lodge bar both nights and the bartender was really friendly and very talented at making drinks! The check-in/check-out staff was friendly, we had no problems. I also want to mention that this was a very dog-friendly hotel, and Telluride was a very dog-friendly town. We brought our two black labs with us on this trip and had no problems taking them everywhere with us, even on the gondola. The only thing I can say about the whole trip that I would do differently next time is that I would not pay $20 a day to park my car right at the lodge. The free parking was not very far away, and we needed to walk that way anyway to get to the gondola and to get groceries. We would definitely recommend Mountain Lodge to our friends and will probably visit there again ourselves in the future.

Mountain Lodge at Telluride

We just got back from a week stay at MLT and stayed in a studio condo. The size was adequate with a great king size bed and dual fireplace. We were put in a handicap room so no bath tub and the shower leaked water all over the bathroom floor. We also had no view and the carpet was kind of dirty! The Kitchen was nice with granite counters - cons: dirty knives in knife block and oven smoked up the entire room everytime we turned it on. Also, the only full lengthed mirror was in the bathroom next to the toilet, odd location.

The pool and hot tub were tiny, we didn't go in, it was very icy all around the area. There was a lot of water leaking into our room from ice melting so we had to deal with soaking wet towels on our bedroom floor almost the whole week we were there. They offered to move us, but by that time we had already been there a day and unpacked everything, wasn't worth the hassle. The location of the MLT was just average. It was kind of a hassle to get anywhere. We had to walk up hill (hard at such a high altitude) then walk up another hill along a path to get to the gondola to ride into Mountain Village.

The shuttle drivers were very unfriendly and one morning we were at the bottom of the slopes at a restaurant and my husband got a migraine, I called the lodge and they wouldn't even pick us up, we had to take the chair lift up to Mountain Village and call them again to come and get us. Finally they showed up then tried to drop us off at the lobby with all of our gear, I had to ask them again to take us directly to our room, then the guy just sat there and watched us struggle with all of our stuff....my husband could barely even walk he was in so much pain. Because of this, I would not go back to the ML, they were just so inconsiderate!

My advice: STAY IN MOUNTAIN VILLAGE! It is so much easier and has so many more conveniences!

“Great summer value!”

Mountain Lodge at Telluride

Jan 26, 2008

Our one bedroom condo was lovely with the balcony overlooking a rushing stream. The decor was gorgeous with stone flooring and granite counters. The kitchen had top appliances including a sub zero refrigerator. The staff was wonderful to us and very helpful for our first Telluride trip. We had a reunion with another family that also stayed here and they made sure our condos were very close to each other. My family loved this place and will always treasure our time there. This was a great summer escape and the price was unbelievably low for such outstanding accomodations.

We stayed at the Telluride Mountain Lodge for 5 days over Christmas in 2007. We were quite pleased with the property and the service we received from the staff. The lodge was extremely busy, however the staff ensured fast check in and immediate attention to any of our requests. The one bedroom studio was perfect for our party of 3. It was cozy, yet roomy enough for all of us to be comfortable. We'll definitely stay here again. Ski in/Ski out ammenities are excellent. Great Location.

“Waited 4 hours to get into room”

Nice physical amenities, with very comfortable lobby. That's a good thing, since you may spend a lot of time there. We waited nearly FOUR HOURS for our room to be ready. Check-in was 4pm, and we didn't get our room keys until just before 8pm.

The front desk was unwilling to do anything to compensate us for the inconvenience (not even a free drink in the lobby bar), and the cleaning staff left the previous guests' perishable (and rapidly perishing) food in the refrigerator.

Unfortunately, this experience ruined what could have been a pleasant stay. If you reserve a room here, pray that they're not busy.
