Staff was friendly and engaging, but not eager to please, except for the Italian morning waiter, who served a tasty, different, cooked breakfast every morning of our 3-day stay. Unusually for me, I tipped every morning. The lobby and room were charming and pleasant. We enjoyed readily accessible teas, coffee, fruit, ice and 1 internet-connected computer in the lobby. Although we found soothing and refreshing the mountain air that flowed into our room when we opened wide our hotel-front-facing windows, our sleep was disturbed by the drunken exiting bar patrons calling out amorous entrieties like juveniles. We'd eschew the street and mountain view and request quieter rooms in the back. Our king bed was firm and the bathroom plumbing, jacuzzi tub, and shower in good shape, but the room was somewhat cramped with our suitcases, backpacks, and camping gear. Management told us that most rooms were similarly sized. Maid service was timely and without complaint. We appreciated receiving without request bathrobes for going upstairs to the rooftop spas (2) after hiking and biking, which provided heartening mountain views in both directions. The New Sheridan Chop House downstairs is not to be missed, but make reservations. We'll stay elsewhere when we return in winter for skiing, but we won't miss at least one dinner at the Chop House. The hotel is very centrally located, but that's not very important because Telluride's pleasant to walk around and pretty flat and most of town is in walking distance from any other point.
