What a great and comfortable place! Large, comfortable, very clean rooms with great tub and shower which seemed recently redone. It is located right on the creek which is so relaxing to hear as you go to sleep. They have a terrific breakfast in the morning - only problem was that while I was there, the Mountainfilm festival had some awful breakfast seminar - which was overcrowded and led to far too much noise far too early on the third floor - and the breakfast was not at the same level.... but that wasn't typical of the hotel.
The pool is a bit shabby and the parking can be tricky, but on the whole, what a great hotel and great service.

telluride is a stunning town & ski area which should not be missed & those who stay in the 'village' miss the whole point of the 'telluride experince'.
the town retains its intimate atmosphere & its box canyon setting is awe inspiring ! the ice house is in the perfect loaction both for skiing & the numerous bars, shops & restaurants. even the laziest of skiers should not find the 65 yard stoll to the gondola & chairlift too far!
rooms are large, comfortable & have everything you need...& best of all 'rico's' bar is great for those one, two or three post skiing coktails. rico & his bulldog are an institution in town & many a happy hour can be spent chatting over a proper gin & tonic !!!!

I booked a room at the Ice House just hours before arriving in Telluride. The front desk clerk was very friendly and negotiated the rate with me (20% off) based on the timing of my visit. This hotel is perfectly located for skiers...mountain views and just a very short walk to the free gondola. All the rooms have been renovated. Very comfortable bed...great sheets and duvet plus a cozy wool blanket if you need it. There is a portable humidifier and fan in the closet for extra comfort. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. The continental breakfast was cereal, doughnuts, bagels and fresh fruit. Free internet access. Plasma TV's in both the hotel room and the common area with books and games.

I would definitely stay there again. They only have 21 hotel rooms...so if you're interested you should check availability soon.

The Ice House Lodge has two buildings - one for hotel rooms/suites and one for condominiums which are also rented out. It is 1 block from the in-town Gondola Station and 2 lifts for town-side double-black-diamond slopes, so it is effectively ski-on/ski-off. We had a 1-BR suite which was enormous (for 2 adults, kids 8/5), with a small balcony overlooking the gondola run and town. Reasonably clean, nice furnishings including King bed and sofa bed; refrigerator provided but not very cold. Continental breakfast provided in 3rd floor bar/common area, which is also used for a 4-hour apres-ski happy hour (drinks/munchies). Pool/hot tub area is tiny and gets very crowded. With small kids, it would have been easier to have an on-site restaurant, rather than relying on the continental breakfast and going out for lunch/dinner most of the time; there is a good small market/grocery (reasonable prices) and "Baked in Telluride" bakery/restaurant 1-2 blocks down Fir St., which let us have some meals in the room. Parking is very limited/double stacked in the underground garage.
