“Perfect”

This was my first trip to Telluride and it will not be my last. I was very impressed with the Ice House and it's sister property Camel Garden as well. My 14 year old son and I spent our spring break here and it was absolutely perfect. By the time you leave your room it is probably 75 yards to chair 8 and/or the gondola. I never did eat the continental breakfast because right down the street was Baked in Telluride which has wonderful donuts and breakfast pasteries. The rooms were very comfortable and equipped with plasma tv's, nice bathrooms, and the heat and air worked great as well.
We loved the convience to main street and all the wonderful restaurants in town. This is a great town, and this mountain has some of the best runs in Colorado, very, very steep terrain. If you want ski in/ ski out accommodations Camel Garden is the place but like I said Ice House is a short walk to the lifts. I could go on and on about this place but I won't. I can sum it up to this, when I book my next trip to Telluride I will compare Camel Garden to Ice House and if I can save $50 a night by staying at Ice House that's where I will be and if I can't I will stay at Camel Garden.

I do agree that finding the front desk could be hard since when you walk inot the property it appears you are walking into the enterence to the garge. But the front desk was helpful and very quick to assist you. The room, we had a single was small, but it was clean and updated. Maid service was great, they had the room done by 10:30 a.m. every day. The "free" breakfest was not bad. The muffins and bagles were great and must have been made by a local bakery. The internet service was done while we were there, but once it was fixed it also worked well. The location is great-- a short distance from the gondola which takes you up to the mountain. The ski lockers located at the front enterence can be small if you have a group of 4 or more.

The staff was great and Rico at the bar was very helpful. It is a very casual hotel and not five star but it is above average.

The Ice House and it's sister property, Camel Garden definitely offer the best location in Telluride.

I have stayed at both and recommend either, although, the location of Camel Garden is a little better.

The room I had at Ice House, 305, although next to elevator, was nicely appointed and would be fine for family with a young child. It had a pull-out couch, nice wall mounted flat screen, and great bathroom.

If you want to be in "town" then the Ice House is a great option.

Our family of 4 adults stayed at the Ice House in January 08 for 3 nights. We had read the great reviews and thought it was a safe bet for accommodation in Telluride.

Our first impression was not great when we eventually found the front desk, there was no hotel entrance as such and it was up a staircase and difficult to find. I have to say the staff member that checked us in was very helpful. No problem there.

We were given the keys to our hotel room, as there were 4 adults we had 1 king bed in one room and a sofa bed and they sent in a blow up bed. It was placed near an outside door that had a draught coming from it.

The room was huge. A kitchenette had a microwave but the kitchen had no utensils, and no plates of any kind. It seemed very strange to us.

The heating was so noisy we considered turning it off through the night but we would have froze to death. There was no heating in the bathroom so when you came out of the shower you couldn't get your clothes on quick enough.

The room with the kitchentte seemed so large it was difficult to keep warm and the people that slept in that area were only given 1 blanket so once again nearly froze to death through the night.

It was nice to have a complimentary continental breakfast, but the girl helping out there never said hi or interacted with any of the guests that had come down for breakfast, very unfriendly. The same could be said for the second front desk woman that we came across on our stay. She made us wait for 10 minutes while she talked on the phone in a foreign language. Once again never a smile from her either.

I was so disappointed with our stay. I was really hoping for a good hotel for me and my family especially considering how much we paid per night. I have to say we were happy to move on at the end of our stay.

“Wonderful Stay at Ice House”

Ice House Lodge

Just returned from 3 day trip to Telluride and loved it! We stayed at The Ice House and very glad we chose to stay there. It sits right by a stream and is steps away from the Gondola that takes you to Mountain Village and lifts so it really is a ski-in/ski-out. Also so close to everything in town--great for shopping or eating out. Everything about Ice House was wnderful. They have such friendly staff that will do everything possible to ensure a great stay. The rooms are beautiful--we were in a suite since we have kids and it was very roomy. Our view was beautiful -- we were in the back of the property with a view of the stream behind us and mountain. They offered free continental breakfast and in evenings had free snacks/drinks--kids loved that. I would definately stay again and we will be back to Telluride--beautiful town and everyone is so friendly--much better than our trip to Aspen.
