Our family of 4 adults stayed at the Ice House in January 08 for 3 nights. We had read the great reviews and thought it was a safe bet for accommodation in Telluride.
Our first impression was not great when we eventually found the front desk, there was no hotel entrance as such and it was up a staircase and difficult to find. I have to say the staff member that checked us in was very helpful. No problem there.
We were given the keys to our hotel room, as there were 4 adults we had 1 king bed in one room and a sofa bed and they sent in a blow up bed. It was placed near an outside door that had a draught coming from it.
The room was huge. A kitchenette had a microwave but the kitchen had no utensils, and no plates of any kind. It seemed very strange to us.
The heating was so noisy we considered turning it off through the night but we would have froze to death. There was no heating in the bathroom so when you came out of the shower you couldn't get your clothes on quick enough.
The room with the kitchentte seemed so large it was difficult to keep warm and the people that slept in that area were only given 1 blanket so once again nearly froze to death through the night.
It was nice to have a complimentary continental breakfast, but the girl helping out there never said hi or interacted with any of the guests that had come down for breakfast, very unfriendly. The same could be said for the second front desk woman that we came across on our stay. She made us wait for 10 minutes while she talked on the phone in a foreign language. Once again never a smile from her either.
I was so disappointed with our stay. I was really hoping for a good hotel for me and my family especially considering how much we paid per night. I have to say we were happy to move on at the end of our stay.
