Description: Originally a private retreat built on a historic mining claim, this new addition to Telluride’s award-winning restaurants is a quaint European hütte perched near the top of Gold Hill. With hand-hewn beams and furniture crafted from reclaimed wine barrels, Alpino Vino provides a high alpine ambience and is reminiscent of restaurants found throughout the Dolomites of Northern Italy. Inside, a warm and inviting atmosphere, complete with a wood burning fireplace, stone floors and exposed wood beams, provides a perfect retreat from the slopes.Situated at 11,966’, Alpino Vino offers fantastic views of the Wilson Range. The expansive multi-tiered deck is a truly unique spot to enjoy a glass of wine with its European teak furniture, coveted daybed and comfortable sheepskin throws. An outdoor wine bar offers a spectacular setting for a midday escape. To visit Alpino Vino during the ski season, take Gold Hill Express (Lift 14) and turn left off the lift to ski down See Forever to our front door.Come enjoy the unique experience that is Alpino Vino!

“Fabulous food, wine and views!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2011

Wow - what a great lunch stop. Definitely not cheap, but worth it for the food, wine and atmosphere. Great cheese and meat plates, plus sandwiches and soups to die for. This is a must-stop when skiing or riding in Telluride!

“Amazing Location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2011

This restaurant has one of the best locations in Telluride! Make sure you are an intermediate skier that is not afraid of heights because the journey there is quite an experience. The food was really, really good. Had a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich with some of the best soup I've ever had. I also had a flight of wine that definitely hit the spot. I have to admit this place was pretty pricey though. Two people can easily spend $100 on two meals, wine, water, and tip....so go prepared to spend a little bit of dough! In my opinion, it was worth the experience. I'll definitely be back.

“Gourmet italian and great wine on top of the world!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2011

We topped off a perfect day of skiing with a quick snack and some wine on the sunny deck. The view was only surpassed by the service and food. It is expensive -$90 for a cup of soup and sand cheese plate a couple of glasses of wine but worth every penny! Get there early as ski patrol sweeps the area at 330 and closes it down.

“What a view, make sure you can ski!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2011

I have never experienced anything like this. It is truely unique! I am a cautious skier and found it a little challenging to get to, but well worth it. It's nestled on the top of one of the highest peaks with breathtaking views. You can dine outside or in (by a warm fire). They have wine tastings, panini's, soups etc. It is very expensive (water for 2 = $10), but considering the view and location, it's worth the splurge. The food was delicious and filling. Wine was excellent. Make sure and let your food and wine settle before you hit the slopes down! It seemed to get busy around 2pm. I heard they have started to offer dinners on Saturday nights.

“Life at it's best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2010

Skiing!!!! Wine!!!! Amazing food!!!! Snow!!!!! Great people!!!!! LIFE IS GOOD...no: GREAT!!!
If you love the above, you will LOVE Alpine Vino. We were even there on a less than optimal day as it was damp and snowy! It did not matter one bit because Alpino Vino is amazing any way you look at it! Do be aware of the price (who cares though...you're on vacation) and the trip back down the mountain (that can be a looloo!!!) lol! A true experience to remember!!!
