In a very expensive town, this was a good value. The room was ok - a little like a hostel. But for under $200 a night in an expensive town, it was a good deal.

Telluride was a great place to stay and the scenery was amazing but.... we drove 6 hours to get to the hotel and we had a dog next door that was barking ALL night. I was completly exhausted and the last think I wanted to do was stay up all night. I made a phone call to security which didn't nothing about the incident. The people staying in the next room went out for the night and left the dog there barking until 3 in the morning. Almost everybody there had dogs in there rooms so it was just one loud barkfest. The rooms were not clean and the parking was too small to handle the amount of guests. Expect to park a mile away or further and to listen to barking all night if you stay here. I would not recommend it!
OVERVIEW: As with all of my reviews I rate the property in comparison to properties in the area….not class of property to similar class in other areas. One of the things to know about Telluride is you really do not need a car and parking, especially in the Winter, can be hard to find, and pricey. So take the shuttle bus or walking are your alternates. It is only a 5-10 minute walk to the center/end of town. During summer the shuttle bus is really not an option but runs frequently in the winter.
As a part time resident of Telluride I have been in several of the area properties. There are only two or three that could be classified on the low end price wise. This property compares with a chain like La Quinta or Comfort Inn etc. The property is located on the San Miguel River in the West end of Telluride. There are four, three story buildings, consisting of a collogue of various units; from a hotel type room to a three bedroom condo. Some of the rooms have kitchenettes. Building is older wood structure that has been remodeled and well kept up. .My experience, is one of the hotel rooms. Property is well landscaped and some rooms have very nice views.
Pets are allowed in some units with a thirty-dollar per night fee. Very few places in Telluride allow pets. Best to reserve in advance. One HBO and cable provided.
THE GOOD: During ski season you are only 100 yards from lift 7, and a 5-minute walk from the gondola and lift 8. There is minimal ski in/out property in Telluride so this is very convenient. Located next to the largest parking lot in Telluride, parking is excellent…no small extra in T Ride. Liquor store is ½ block and grocery store one or two blocks. Shuttle bus stop is nearby at base of lift seven as is the gym.
Rooms have been redone and are spotless. Décor consists of two rustic wood appearing entertainment consoles for tv and storage. Small table with two chairs. An additional dresser and hang up combine for a lot of storage for single queen bed, room. Appeared to be more then adequate heat for winter.
I was very surprised to note that walking down the hall I heard TV’s and conversations. Expected to have a noisy night. But the room-to-room insulation is excellent and I never noticed the neighbors, however you do hear water running or footsteps overhead.
Bedding and maid service was excellent. Nice fan provided. Wall mount hair dryer. Shampoo and soap with small moisturizer.
Hot tub is on the river.
THE BAD: The hotel rooms are a bit on the small side. The two chairs are wood so not too much on the comfort side. If you are an early riser and do not have a kitchen, the only place to get coffee before 7 a.m. is the bakery about 5 blocks away. You could drive there, I guess. There is only one restaurant and one combo bar restaurant in the immediate area. Breakfast and lunch may not be available in this area.
Small 17” T.V. but adequate. Security: The locks on my ground floor windows would not lock. Anyway, in the summer, you have to sleep with the windows open. Crime is very limited in Telluride and I have never been fearful, but if it concerns you ask for an upper level floor.
You will notice a few stains in comunity areas and scuff marks on some of the doors. Not noted in the room.
Limited hours for Check In/Out. Staff works to live.
THE UGLY: What passes for free coffee in the small lobby should never be confused with real coffee. Actually, there is no lobby, only a check in station.
Windows appear to be single pane. Table is next to the window and could be cold next to this in winter.
OVERVIEW: This is a great location in the winter and has nice grounds. Many of the lodging properties are very close to other buildings. Compared to other properties in the price range this one has much more going for it. You can get the advantage of a condo without the price. Only downside is the lack of entertainment in the area…but T Ride is an easy walk…and anyway wasn’t this the week you were going to lose a few pounds?
If you stay at Mountain Side Inn...Get your room reservation In Writing. Our room that we booked "on the river" was given away. They gave us a parking lot room instead. After a total hissy fit they gave me a 97.00 credit and moved us to a Mountain View and we were satisfied with the outcome. Much to my surprise when we arrived home I incurred a 35.00 charge because the employee made another huge mistake and gave me too much of a credit. This was our 10 year wedding anniversary in Telluride. How could a $97.00 room credit on a 5 night stay be toooooo much when we were suppose to be waterside. Talk about a bad customer service! So if you get a river room get it in writing............... or you may find your MAJESTIC MONTAN views of Telluride.............. parking stripes instead!
A slopeside room for $100 (excluding taxes) during ski season? Pretty much, granted, it's not exactly ski in ski out, but it's truly slopeside. A short walk to the lift, a short walk to town.
As mentioned by other reviewers, the rooms are basic, but they're nice. The inn has all the basics - free wireless, hottub, etc. It's quiet, the rooms are well kept, really everything you could ask for. Compared to other lodging in Telluride, this is a bargain.
