I stayed here once last year and remembered it as being decent. This trip was less than decent. To start with, we booked directly through the hotel's phone number. She charged our credit card before telling us that there was a $50 fee for canceling at ANY time. She also quoted us the price without fees/taxes. A common ploy I realize, but it added $35 per night to our bill. The room was in the basement with a tiny window that had a "view" of snow pushed up against the window. Because one of us slept in (but was out of the hotel room before noon), they did not clean our room or change out towels. There is no shampoo or conditioner in the room, no microwave, the internet service was spotty, and the hot tub is in the middle of the parking lot. Breakfast was very minimal: cold cereal, yogurt, and burnt cinnamon rolls. The location is indeed excellent, but this place offers little else to recommend it.

“Adequate, basic hotel room”

Nothing very Victorian... or Inn-ish about The Victorian Inn but "Good, Basic Hotel Rooms" does not sound as charming.
The location was great for walking to the lift and around town. It was a bit noisy and the rooms that start with a 3 are below the first and second floor rooms so are sub-level DOWN UNDER the building. No elevator, no bellmen, no innkeeper, no air conditioning... heat, small refridgerator, t.v. that you can easily hit your head on and coffee maker in room. Adequate continental breakfast starts at 8 a.m. (and not one moment sooner) though the coffee was not ready until 8:20 so we missed it. Many guests were trying to access breakfast in a very small space so it was not very comfortable. It was one of the least expensive places left in town when I made the reservation 1 week in advance.

“No air conditioning, good location”

I stayed in July 2007. The property is near the center of town and very close to the gondola going to the mountain village. The property is squeezed onto a small piece of land.

The hotel parking lot was full. I had to park in the street which required me to move before 10AM.

The room was adequate. Be advised that there is no air conditioning and the outside temperature was over 90 during my visit. The room was warm during the day but was tolerable at night.

The window fan was a cheap device. Its position in the window made it difficult to close the blinds fully while the fan was operating.

The Victorian Inn is a clean, convenient, and relatively affordable lodging option in Telluride. The complimentary breakfast included just-baked cinnamon rolls and yogurt, as well as the usual other items. The location is great, just a block away from the free gondola that takes you up to Mountain Village. We enjoyed riding it all times of day and night--great views. The lodge is within walking distance of the whole town--we parked our car one day and didn't get into it for the next three days!

“Better than expected”

We were here for the jazz festival and stayed 3 nights. Our room was on the middle level on the lawn side near the spa etc. It got warm in the afternoons and there is no AC unlt, only a small inadequate window fan so we slept with the window open but were not bothered by any traffic noise.
The room was large with 2 Q beds.
We would have liked a little more security in terms of door locks - there was no dead bolt on the inside
There is free internet access available if you ask for the access code.
All in all it was adequate and a great location.
