“Great Amenities - Not So Great Service”

This hotel is perfectly located near the gondolas and ski lifts. The hotel is rather compact but has an overall cozy feel. Our one bedroom suite contained a gas fireplace, separate living/tv room, 2 flat panel televisions, washer/dryer, a kitchenette and a very nice bathroom containing a jetted tub and a steam shower. The room was a great place to relax after a long day on the slopes. Overall the room amenities were fantastic and the bed was super comfortable. Some noise could be heard from other rooms including 6.a.m. phone conversations and wake-up alarms but overall the hotel was quiet. Not so great was the service. I had to call the hotel several times to reach a reservation agent. When I was finally able to speak to someone, I was informed they only had a room available for the first three nights out of our our six night stay in Telluride. I asked if they would be able to transfer our bags to another hotel after our three night stay and the reservation agent said she would check and call me back. She never called. But the hotel did ultimately transfer the bags without any problem. The room was not cleaned well (especially the bathroom floor) and the turndown service happened only once during our three night stay. Service during breakfast was slow and disinterested. It just seemed like the seasonal employees appeared to lack training or just didn't care to provide the service expected when a room costs close to $500 a night. Despite an interesting menu, the breakfast food was average at best. We were served a bowl of obviously moldy rasberries and blueberries. The restaurant manager apologized and provided complimentary apres ski drinks and appetizers in the hotel bar which was very nice. Several employees were great especially Johnnie - the concierge/bellman. Overall - this is a very nice and cozy place to stay but the service during our stay was a notch below the room amenities. I would definately recommend the hotel and hope that service improves a bit.
Telluride has amazing scenery and is a great place to visit. The restaurants and even the food on the mountain are great. Try Baked in Telluride for Pizza. Yum!! You definately don't need a car to get around as the free gondola provides transportation to and from the town, the ski area and even the grocery store and post office. As snowboarders, we found that the mountain is more suited to skiing as many of the blue runs (especially See Forever) have long areas that flatten out and the green runs are just to flat to board. But this mountain might just turn me into a skier because I really look forward to visiting again!

Like so many others on this board, I am very disappointed with the class of service at this hotel. As an American Express Platinum card holder, perhaps I am a little spoiled with the service I receive, but at $500 per night, one expects the best of service and this hotel is a far stretch from the Ritz Carlton or other properties in this price range.

I am used to hotels working with me when I need something a bit unusual. I was able to get an earlier than expected start and due to the lack of traffic, we arrived at the hotel several hours early, a few minutes before 5 am to be exact for a 4 night stay. When I asked the desk what they could do to help, they did nothing except offer me a room at full list price with a checkout at 11am. I could not believe that though there were rooms available, they were so unwilling to extend a courtesy to an a Platinum member (The room was reserved and recommended through American Express). I called Amex and they called the hotel; still no response. An hour or so later the Front desk manager offered me a cup of decaf that he had just made.

The hotel is without a doubt hokey, overly marketed and undeserving of its Amex recommendation.

This was our second trip to Telluride, staying at the Inn at Lost Creek. Once again, it was a wonderful experience. We went the week before Christmas, arrived around noon, and had no problem checking into our room that early. We stayed in a 1 BR residence, which gave us a sitting area along with a bedroom, complete with gas fireplace, and a small kitchenette. (Small frig, microwave, 2-cooktop stove, utensils, coffee maker) The evening turn-down service left chocolates on our pillows each night. The room was clean & cozy. Spacious bathroom, with steam bath in the shower and a big tub. There are hottubs on the roof available, but you need to call and reserve a time to use them.
We rented our skis at Christie's, which is located in the basement, and their ski valet waxed our skis each night. We decided to trade in our skis for a different model, and no problem.
We didn't try eating at the hotel's restaurant "9545" this year, but had good breakfast there last year.

My husband and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary by driving to Telluride and Aspen from California. We had a great stay in Telluride, checked in early (off season), relaxed, rode the gondola to the village and had an excellent dinner at the Cosmo. It was all very romantic, our mountain view suite was perfect, we paid half the price and got more than at the Little Nelly in Aspen....Inn at Lost Creek was also ranked among the best in the Hotel and Resorts magazine for 2007, nothing but the best and at a reasonable price. Check it out.

We & another couple shared a 2-bedroom suite here for 4 nights recently & everything was as wonderful as other "Trip Advisors" had stated.
The rooms were spacious, luxuriously furnished, well appointed & included a Washer & Dryer, fully appointed Kitchen with high-end appliances, 6-person dining table & plenty of plush, comfortable seating around a lovely (working) Fire place.
Every room has at least a "Step-Out" balcony to enjoy the spectacular views of Mountain Village/Telluride region.
The Inn's location is perfect, just steps to everything including the Gondola's.
The restaurant, 9545, is wonderful.
The staff were incredibly friendly & helpful, particularly the manager, Oliver, who arranged all of our excursions right while we enjoyed lunch upon arrival! His recommendations for both excursions, dinners & tours were wonderful. Another staff member, Nick, was also incredibly helpful, funny, accomodating & truly helped make our stay here such a pleasure.
Kudos to the entire staff!!
I would absolutely stay here again & highly recommend others do too. They also have specials at their website.
