“Boutique hotel in magical Mountain Village - a gondola ride to Telluride”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

We went here in the summer for a wedding at the top of San Sophia Ridge, knowing virtually nothing about Telluride. Our rooms were well-appointed: the bed comfortable; the bathroom elegant and our suite was nicely furnished with sink, fridge and microwave. Our room had sliding door access to the pool, whirlpool, sauna, bar and restaurant, which was very convenient. Our friend had a two bedroom, two bathroom room (55) with full kitchen, dining area, living room and balcony - we would have been happy to move in. There was turn down service and chocolate. We never had a moment to even turn on the television during those four days.

Breakfast was plentiful and varied, but the most impressive part of this hotel is its staff. Warm, friendly and accommodating - from the manager Claire and her husband, Bas, to the handyman/right hand man/go-to guy, Jose, to the bar staff, restaurant staff, concierge, Trevor, valet, Kyle, to the maid (sorry forgot her name).

I understand that in the winter, the hotel accommodates skiers by bringing their skis to the lifts. The hotel is small enough to be intimate and large enough to not make you feel that you are the only ones there. In fact, the day we left, it was fully booked but seemed almost empty. Lots to do in Telluride and Mountain Village...

One thing about Mountain Village - although new, it is laid out in series of plazas that seem to blend in with the landscape... a newer version of Trastevere Rome, except at at altitude of 10,000 feet in the San Miguel Mountains in Colorado. A very magical place indeed.

My husband and I booked a queen room at lumiere for our six year anniversary. We stayed in July 2014. Upon arrival we were given a complimentary upgrade to a 1br residence. Come to find out they try their hardest to upgrade if certain units do not sell. We were greeted upon arrival, given a tour of the facilities and taken to our room where our bags were put in our room, windows open to cool off the room (no a/c) and light music playing in the background. Room 51 is spectacular- great amenities and awesome view! The shower is ahmazing!
The staff is very friendly and wants to make your stay top notch. More than willing to go out of their way and offer great advice for hikes, restaurants, etc. We received the best hospitality!
This is a small boutique hotel- the pool and patio area are quite small but meet expectations. Nice hot tub, cold plunge, and heated pool. The fitness area is also small- but go for a hike if you want to exercise! Great location in mountain village and close to gondola that takes you to Telluride.
We didn't try the little bar but I'm sure it's great. Continental breakfast is very good- think European. Snacks and water out all day.

lumiere comes with our recommendation!

Was blown away by the service and friendliness of all the staff we encountered at the Lumiere. We parked in the Valet area and followed the signs to the check in area. Jose, greeted us as we stepped off the elevator, confirmed our names and took us straight to our room. No formal check-in needed. As many of the rooms don't have air conditioning, someone had opened the door and windows to cool off the room in advance of our arrival as it was a warm summer day. Although we offered to go with him, Jose then went to gather our bags out of our car. He was super thorough - grabbing the snacks, shoes that weren't packed but needed and our water bottles and chargers without us mentioning them. Later that night he walked us to the gondola as it was our first visit to Telluride. The complimentary breakfast was an added bonus and very tasty. We enjoyed the salt water hot tub after a long hike and Lumiere provides nice beach towels if you use the pools and a robe in your room.

The location is great. We never once needed our car and were able to take the gondola into town with very short waits.

We visited over a holiday weekend and the only room available was a queen. It suited the two of us just fine but will try for a larger room in the future - especially in the winter when we would have more "gear" as space is a bit limited. But the space wasn't an issue for us.

Will definitely be back as the Lumiere staff made our stay wonderful.

My family and I stayed at this wonderful property between the dates of 7/6 and 7/11. I almost never write reviews on a hotel unless the stay was terrible. However, in this case I felt compelled to let people know how great this hotel is. We had a unique check in experience as my one year old daughter threw up in the car and covered the car seat and herself literally minutes before we drove up to Lumiere. I notified the valet attendant, Alec, and he immediately helped with clean up and laundered our soiled clothes and car seat. Trevor checked us in and beyond my expectations upgraded us to a one bedroom residence. The room was beautiful and was appointed with high quality furniture and linens. There is no AC in the rooms, however I never found it to be hot in the room as long as windows were kept open to allow for ventilation. Breakfast was complimentary and served daily. The place is great and all staff that I encountered were great. Lumiere: If you read these reviews please tell all your staff that they do a wonderful job...especially Jose, who assisted us with great professionalism.

In Mountain Village, you can't miss when it comes to luxury. The entire village is designed with opulence in mind. What separates one property from another simply comes down to service, and the service at the Lumiere Hotel is unquestionably some of the best we have ever received on our travels.

I had a feeling we were in for a treat when shortly after reserving our room, I received an email containing a link to a customized webpage guestfolio I could use to make dinner reservations, book excursions, pre-order groceries for our stay, etc. We used the service to arrange a hike on the incredible Via Ferrata, and so they could provide us with an accurate account of the hike itself, two of the concierges experienced it for themselves. I was blown away by that level of dedication to customer service.

From the second we pulled up, the staff knew who we were and sincerely went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. They're all so good at what they do, they anticipate their guests needs and act accordingly, so we never really found ourselves having to ask for anything. This is a luxury lodge that lives up to the title.

So thank you, thank you, thank you for making us feel so special during our fantastic stay. Most of all, we were humbled by the wonderful surprise you had waiting for us when we arrived. It was so unexpected and so special. We'll never forget your kindness and generosity. The entire staff has our warmest regards, yet I must single out Trevor, Jose, Alec, Meredith, Clare, and Bas for taking care of us with such heart and solicitude.

What a surprise, unobtrusive entrance with valet parking...but when you enter the lobby take the elevator up to 2nd floor...very modern boutique type hotel with wonderful "small bar" and great breakfast awaits you in the morning. Suites are gorgeous very expensiive finishes - top of the line- all the way around. Great views and very helpful friendly staff..we will do this again!
