“Best place in town, hands down, if you want to have a look around!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2010

My 13 yr old son and i had a three night 4-day adventure to Steamboat. Wanted to go budget and since our focus was on skiing, we were looking for simple, clean and convenient accomodation. That was the Bunkhouse. The rooms and facility were super clean, staff was always available and very helpful, the breakfast was basic but fresh, hot-tub was clean and well maintained, room was quiet, beds were comfortable, and the location was a 5 minute ride to the Meadow parking lot at the base of the mountain. This is the first review I have ever written for Tripadvisor and I do so as I was really ultra impressed with the Bunhouse and the total value for the money spent!!

Very clean, comfortable bed and pillows, perfect comforter thickness. The managers were very polite and helpful with local directions. For the price, a great value!

Firstly, the motel is hidden behind a larger motel and we had to call for directions from a young lady who was polite and thorough. Check-in was quick, and we had easy parking for the first floor room. THE FIRST THING WE SMELLED WAS CARPET FRESH IN THE HALLS AND IN OUR ROOMS. This is soooo offensive to people who have breathing problems as both my husband and I do. We were able to open the window and turn on the fan which made it better. Then we smelled a strange odor in the bathroom, which my husband discovered was soured water in the tub which had the stopper in place and was holding the water. Aside from all that we had a good night's sleep and were on our way the next day, On the positive side there was a cute sitting room in "bunkhouse" style, but we did not eat breakfast. The town was really busy, so we did not have a great choice, so this motel was our best bet, and as I said it was just o.k.

We traveled with family member in a wheel chair. The handicapped room was smaller than the ajoining room. Had to have desk removed to get chair on side of bed. Don't worry if you miss breakfast. Plenty of good places in town. Rooms were clean and price was good. Would come back if recession doesn't end.

Found this place on the web and read the reviews. Reviews were good so I thought I would give it a try. Stayed in Steamboat many time but never at the Bunkhouse. I was pleasantly surprised. Room # 204 and bathroom was clean and neat. Location is just east of town behind the Steamboat Hotel. Remember that because this property can not be seen from the road. Slept with the window open all night and was not awaken once by any noise. Didn't deal with the front desk other than checking in. No issues at check-in. One thing to remember is that the Continental Breakfast does not open till 7:00 am on Sunday. So if you need to leave before that, breakfast is on you. There are minor issues such as the wall paper in the bathroom pealing back in some locations and some areas need re-caulking. Over all a good stay at A good price Check there web site for specials. If you are looking for A four star place to stay and be catered too. This place is not for you. Will stay again.

Having read the other reviews before I stayed here, the Bunkhouse Lodge was better than expected. I expected an old place in need of some updating, but it's a clean, modern motel. My window had a screen (unlike another reviewer complaint). While the address indicates that the motel is on the main road, it's actually far back from the road, behind the Steamboat Hotel, and backs to a large meadow or wetland. The two motels share a sign; the Bunkhouse Lodge's name is in smaller letters and therefore easy to miss--I suggest printing out the BH's directions if you don't have a navigation unit. I would have given a 5-star rating (on a value basis) except that the breakfast is too basic, just cereal, bread / muffins, juice and coffee. No real butter, but real half-and-half. You can pay extra for packaged microwaveable items.

Just back from a quick two night stay in Steamboat Springs. The purpose of the trip was to use a few of the ski days included on our Rocky Mountain Super Pass Plus. We usually visit Steamboat in the shoulder season and stay at the nicer properties such as the Steamboat Grand but had no desire to pay that much during ski season when all we needed was a place to rest our heads. Chose the Bunkhouse for it's consistent reviews on Trip Advisor and favorable price ($80/night). We were not disappointed! We expected basic motel quality rooms that were clean - and that's what we got. Bed looked a little uncomfortable at first but proved to be a good rest after a long day of skiing. The Lodge is convenient to the bus line (it stops right in front of the Super 8) which is nice for those with no cars. Didn't rely on the breakfast as we prefer a bigger breakfast out to hold us over while skiing but the selection was basic motel continental breakfast foods. Hot tub was clean and very hot - perfect for relaxing after a day on the slopes. Would we stay here again? If the price was right certainly! A good budget option for those visiting Steamboat in the busy season who don't want to break the bank.
