“Perfect Family Spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2008

Our family vacationed with another family and stayed in a 4 bedroom/4 bathroom suite (room 202) at the Phoenix. The staff was courteous and welcoming, the suite was beautifully decorated and the beds were very comfortable. The suite was very spacious and the 4 bathrooms really came in handy with all the kiddos. The condos are within close walking distance to the kids' ski school, Terry's rentals is next door and so is a great little food market where we bought food for the entire week. We had a great time and will be back!

My family stayed at the Phoenix over the week of Christmas 2007.
We usually stay at the Steamboat Grand, but we were looking for something more affordable this time and we found it at the Phoenix. Our unit was two story with two bedrooms and full bathrooms downstairs as well as a washer and dryer and our private, heated one-car garage. Upstairs was a fully equiped kitchen, dining area, living room with a gas fireplace and third full bathroom. We had a large balacony upstairs from which we could see atleast part of the mountain/gondola. It was easy to get across one street and ski down to the main gondola area.
We also had our own storage for ski and snowboard equipment
just outside our door. They do have a heated outdoor pool with two hottubs and gas grills. Christmas day we wanted to have grilled steak and lobster and, even though we had about a foot of snow the night before, the maintenance man on duty went out and cleaned off a grill for us and made sure it was hooked up and ready to use. We never used the hottub because it was a walk outside from our unit and they do not provide bathrobes so it was just too cold for us to venture over there. There is a large grocery store just a short drive toward town were we bought most of our groceries. The little things we needed after that could be purchased at a small grocery/liquor store within walking distance from our condo; however they do charge a little extra for the convenience. Overall, we had a wonderful vacation and saved enough money to pay for all our gasoline on our drive from central Texas, groceries and lift tickets/rentals just by staying at the Phoenix instead of the Grand.
I would definately recommend the Phoenix !!

Our family of five had an excellent time at Steamboat and the condo was a great fit. The kids couldn't wait to get off the slopes to swim in the hottub and pool. The pool was between 85 and 100 degrees and quite large. The bedrooms were on a different level than the main living area in our 2 bedroom condo allowing us to put the kids to bed and stay up a little.
The condo has a great shuttle service that we used to get all over town.
Our unit also had a garage which allowed us to come off the slopes without tramping our snow and dirt all over the unit.
I thought we were getting ski in/out so was disappointed about it being across the street. It turned out to be pretty easy access to slopes (even if carrying kid's stuff) and we could get to kid's ski school in 5 minutes.

Bring music system if you want to hear some. If your unit sleeps six and it's a two bedroom, then you have to put your kids to sleep in a bedroom and wake them up later, or sleep on a sofa sleeper. We were usually tired so welcomed the chance to crash early. Have fun.

I was booked at the Phoenix (Jan 7-14 '06)by my brother and was disappointed to find out we had to lug our equipment accross the street then down a path to the lifts. But the the place was great. These are privately owned units, so they are well kept. I was able to look into about 5-6 units and all had very nice decor with a balcony. We had a huge 4 bedroom/4bath-sleeps 10 w/ fireplace, in-unit wash/dryer, complete kitchen plus a kitchen-ette in the lower bedroom. The pool is outdoors but it's heated yr round plus 2 large hot tubs. We even had a 1 car garage. Fresh towels daily. Very nice clubhouse with Wi-Fi and a computer if you didn't bring yours. Plus skiing was the best I'v had in years! Oh, lots of stairs too, so be prepared.
