“Rustic from the outside”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2014

This is a basic budget hotel. It looks rustic from the outside, but everything does in Steamboat. On the inside it is a basic 3 story hotel. The room I stayed in was clean and well kept. There was nothing wrong with it, but there was nothing special about it. I only paid $69 on a "web rate" and the sign out front advertised for $79. Very reasonable rates for the area. There is not food service on sight, but there is a Holiday Inn bar and restaurant across the street. Steamboat has many hiking and biking trails and I was pleased that one of the trails was next to the hotel. It was less than a 5 minute walk to the river.

Room Tip: 3 stories with no elevator, so ask for a first floor room if you have a difficult time with stairs...

overall you get what you pay for. we wanted to go cheap. Rooms are clean enough and the staff is so nice and helpful you immediately overlook the simplicity of the hotel . just if you are not into dogs - make sure you don't get a dog friendly room. ick. they smell baaaadddd.

We spent one night, traveling thru. Good value, especially in a resort town. Accommodations quite comfortable. No elevators. No complimentary breakfast, but at prices charged, not surprising. Friendly staff.

The Steamboat hotel is a basic budget motel. But it doesn't claim to be a luxury hotel. Our room was in the basement, so very dark, but fine for an overnight stay. It was also pretty cramped, and the queen sized bed was pushed up against the wall, so difficult for one person to get in and out of bed.

Fine for one night stay, don't know if I could stay longer. Clean and room a little tired.

We had not visited Steamboat during ski season in years and while we no longer ski, we were astounding at the prices many places can charge. Steamboat has changed into a tourist town and it is a great place and a grand location with a fabulous mountain and a River runs thru town.
But we cannot afford a few hundred dollars a night just to sleep--at that price I got to stay awake to enjoy it!
The Steamboat Hotel has honest rates, great beds, wonderful location, and we enjoyed it. It is as good as any of the fine chain hotels. We would recommend it to anyone that counts their dollars.

This Hotel is great we have stayed here 3 separate times now and never had 1 problem it a little out of town but Steamboat has a super free bus service and the bus takes you to the door. You don't have to pay a fortune to stay in a great Ski Resort like Steamboat

You get what you pay for - this is a very reasonably priced hotel for the location. If you are looking for frills and luxury stay elsewhere. The room is clean although outdated and bathroom could use some upkeep (cracks in the plaster). Easy, quick drive to Main Street or the mountains or you can take the free shuttle with a stop right out front of the hotel. The lighting in the room is not good - very dim even with all the lights on.

While the front desk is courteous they could use some additional training - i had prepaid for my room so I was only looking to pay the pet fee and apparently that caused the front desk attendant a lot of trouble as she had no idea how to make that work. It wasn't until the next morning when the manager was in was the issue resolved. Needless to say a rather slow check in. Checkout was extremely fast and they were nice enough to let us have a free late checkout.

We loved all the trails surrounding the hotel that we could walk our dog. Overall, for the price we would stay here again.
