Owner description: The Yampa River Core Trail is a seven mile, non-motorized multi-use trail that follows the meandering Yampa River from Dougherty Road through downtown Steamboat Springs to Bear River Park. Groves of cottonwood trees, excellent fishing, scenic overlook benches, and lovely picnic spots make this trail a great place for a leisurely stroll or a commuter route through town. Additionally, there are many parks and playgrounds and more miles of trail that can be accessed off of the Core Trail.

“Great Bike Riding Along the Yampa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

We rented bicycles and rode from one end to the other along the nicely paved trail. The trail is pretty much level. Several walkers, runners, dogs and bicyclists on the trail, all very respectful of everyone else's space.

Nice views of the mountains and the Yampa River, which we crossed several times.

Glad to know that all users were respectful of others. With so many different people on the trail we like to think that everyone is looking out for each other.

“A River Really Does Run Next To It”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

This is a public trail that should please just about everyone. You can stroll it solo or with your partner or your grandkids. Walking, biking or running it is truly beautiful next to the rushing Yampa River while surrounded by mountains and an almost continuous view of the world famous Steamboat Ski Area. It provides a natural, peaceful experience and yet it goes right next to downtown and all the amenities that Steamboat Springs has to offer.

“Great bike trail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

Easy bike trail that meanders along the Yampa River. Extremely well maintained with lots to look at and nice "distractions" along the route. Stop by and see the Botanical Gardens or one of the many parks.

“A pleasing riverside trail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

This is a "must experience" for any trip to Steamboat in the summertime. Nicely laid out for close proximity to the Yampa River through tree-shaded groves and easy access to downtown businesses. Enjoyable for bikers and walkers.
