We stayed three nights at the Steamboat Grand in December 2007. We thought the hotel was very nice, staff very friendly, and extremely conveinient for skiing across the street at the ski area. Our room was comfortable, especially the bedding, clean, and always warm. The balcony was a great feature and we had a great view of the ski hill. We have absolutely nothing negative to say negative about this resort. The shuttle service was great, the hot tub was perfect, the lobby very nice, and all in all a great stay. The only real improvement area I would suggest is after 1045 hrs at night you are stuck if you want food! The restaurants seemed to close early, no bars to get a snack either, and no room service. That was a bit of a surprise for a resort. They have a very tiny room cafe, but hours were limited there as well. Keep in mind we were there before the busy season so might change, but for us hours were very limited. Otherwise, very nice stay and we would return without thinkinng twice and would recommend to others. Cannot beat the location for skiing across the street!!!

“They failed me”

We booked two months in advance to celebrate our anniversary in a jacuzzi room. We also called about 2 wks in advance to be sure all was set. Not until we called the day before our stay did they tell us we could not have a jacuzzi room. If I wouldn't have lost my deposit I would have cancelled. Very disappointed

The Grand is a truly great place. We found the best kept secret at Steamboat in the 7th floor penthouses. WOW. They are stunning, the views are stunning -- you really feel like you are on a fabulous vacation. Ours had FIVE bedrooms, and we could have slept a lot more than the 9 people we had in our party. Would be a great place for several families with room to spread out galore. We even had our own sauna. We found the concierge to be quite helpful with planning summer time activities all over the area. We can't wait to try it during ski season.

“Disappointed in the Steamboat Grand”

Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel and Conference Center

My husband, 2 children and I stayed at at the Steamboat Grand for 2 nights and were very disappointed. There is absolutely nothing grand about this place. The entry into the lobby has a waterfall with half dead plants in mix matched plastic pots. There is no ramp, only stairs, to get you to the frontdesk. Since we had a stroller, we had to take the sevice elevator up. My feeling is that if you have guests going into a service elevator it should be somewhat presentable. It had 6.5 foot ceilings and was filthy.

We booked a room with 2 queen beds. I had requested one with a balcony but upon checkin they told me one was not available. By design of the building some rooms are very far from the elevator. Ours was one of those. The room was very plain, with very little art on the walls. The window in the room was small and had horzontal blinds that could not be pulled up. To look outside you had to look through the slats of the blinds. The coffee pot had not been cleaned since the previous guest. The bathroom was very small and the shower had poor pressure.

The restaurants are all interior and have no windows to look out. We went to the cafe to get a coffee. There was one person working there and a huge line of impatient guests. I asked if there were any outdoor spots at the hotel with tables and he mentioned a covered patio. We found it and it looked like the tables had not been cleaned in a long time. Some of the chairs and tables were broken or shifty.

Overall I think this is a poorly designed and managed hotel.
Steamboat is a beautiful town, but I would never stay at this hotel again.

“Grand Dissapointment”

The Steamboat Grand was a big dissapointment. I had read the reviews on Trip Advisor and thought that the Steamboat Grand must be really excellent. There is nothing great about the rooms, they reminded me of a La Quinta with granite bathroom countertops. We stayed in a double queen room that had a balcony. They say this room fits 4 people, but it barely fits two. The bathroom was clean but the comforters on the beds were snagged and the throw pillows were dirty. We tried to watch television, but the cable was out so we asked the front desk if they had a DVD library (they have a DVD/VCR player in the room), we were told they do not have a DVD library for guests. We tried to ask one of the two concierges where a good spot for dinner was, but they completely ignored us because both were talking to another guest. I wouldn't recommend the Steamboat Grand to a friend.
