My husband and I just stayed here from April 8 to 10. We usually stay at Hiltons and the like, so it was our first experience with a "budget" hotel. The first room we were assigned was near the road and very noisy, as well as extremely smokey. We immediately asked for another room and were given a choice of two others. We chose a king bed room on the ground floor.
The positives - (1) The owner was super friendly and helpful. She recommended the Italian restaurant next door, which was fabulous - 5 stars! (2) The location is great as you can walk to everything - no car needed. There is a shuttle stop to the resort across the street. (3) The room was clean, which is probably the most important thing to us. Also, the room was nicely equipped with a fridge, microwave, and tv. The bathrooms were clean and remodeled, with a heat lamp and fan. Shower was super - great water pressure and hot!
The negatives - (1) The bathroom toilet was clogged upon arrival. We figured out that you had to flush by holding the handle down the whole time. On our second day, the toilet completely clogged again and we had to borrow a plunger from the office. By the end of our trip, we had to take the lid off and fiddle with the trap to get the toilet to flush. (2) The king-size bed was quite likely the most uncomfortable rundown bed I've ever slept in - there was a large crater in the middle where you could feel the springs. My husband and I both had to sleep on opposite edges of the bed to avoid being sucked in. We could not figure out how a bed could even get this way! Either way, it does not make for a good night's sleep. (3) As one might expect in a budget hotel, there was some loud late night activity on Friday night. I was woken up by drunks yelling in the parking lot at 2:20 am and 4:45 am. No problems Saturday night.
Although we'd stay here again in large part due to the budget pricing and the accommodating staff, we will probably try the Hampton Inn the next time. If they updated the beds, I'd give this hotel a better review by far!!
