“The Highmark tops the scale on every count. In summary -- WOW!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2009

This top notch resort is beautifully designed and decorated with every concievable convenience that exudes luxury. The staff was super courteous and helpful. My wife and I enjoyed everything about the suite: large bathrooms, large flat-screen TVs, lots of tile and granite counter tops, great living and dining room with comfortable furniture and kitchen with top of the line appliances, cooking utensils and tableware and bed-rooms created for sleep and relaxation. Also, the pool, spa, exercise room, game room. and other public areas were ultra clean and fun to use or wander into. For us, this was a getaway for rest and relaxation. We were totally satisfied and plan to return at every opportunity with no second look at anything else in town.

We loved this property, beautiful units, spacious, pool, jacuzzi, great game room. Our unit had 2 bedrooms, an office, huge family room/dining area, and a full kitchen. Plenty of room to put the little ones to bed and still enjoy a glass of wine on the patio without waking anyone. The staff was very helpful and always available. Stop looking and book this property, you won't regret it!

My family (2 adults/3 children) stayed at the Highmark for our Spring Break week at the beginning of April. What a fantastic place--large & impeccably finished rooms w/ fully equipped kitchens, great location, all sorts of amenities (pool, hot tub, free breakfast, excellent shuttle service, private ski concierge at the gondola base, hot chocolate & cider at the end of the day, etc.). When we arrived, Jaimie (General Manager) came out to greet us, give a quick tour of the property and show us to our spectacular room. As nice as this place is, the staff is even better. All of them are so friendly and helpful and go out of their way to provide exceptional service. When our daughter became ill one evening, they took us in the Escalade to the ER at Yampa Valley Hospital and then returned to pick us up. Later that night she had a reaction to her medication and the driver went back to the hospital to pick up another medication for her. They also returned our rental equipment to the shop for us on our departure day. The shuttle to/from the mountain runs regularly and, with the ski concierge at the gondola, this is just as convenient as a ski in/out condo without the noise.

The Highmark is the nicest place we have ever stayed for a ski vacation and it has our highest recommendation. You will not be disappointed.

The hotel and staff were absolutely amazing. As if being picked up from the aiport in an Escalade wasn't enough, the staff went of their way to find us a Pizza place and Liquor store upon our 11pm arrival. I would gladly go back to the Highmark!

Our stay at the Highmark from April 5-10 was one that we will never forget.
First, I have to say that everything you read on these forums about the
staff at the Highmark is TRUE. The rooms are well-appointed and the staff's attention to the guests is unparalleled. Contrary to earlier posts about
the quality of the continental breakfast, we were more than satisfied.
Each morning we would parade down to the beautiful guest lounge and retire
back to our room with cereal, fresh muffins, bagels, juices, fruit and
milk. Never did we find the spread to be lacking and for our taste, it was
spot on. This simple breakfast easily saved us time and money every day.
After getting ready to ski, we simply walked down to the lobby and we were
quickly whisked up to the mountain in either the Highmark shuttle van or
Cadillac Escalade. Fortunately, our skis and boots were already waiting
for us in the Highmark Ski Valet conveniently located in the Gondola Square
area. The valet was staffed with a Highmark employee who had previously
labeled our equipment and easily had these laid out for us. The shoes we
wore to the valet were stored for us while we skied. At the end of the
day, we reversed the process and were on our way. When we weren't skiing,
the staff was ready at a moments notice to shuttle us to town, or the
grocery store as needed. A welcome surprise was their ability to make
recommendations for lunches or dinners. While we didn't eat out as much as
we planned, in each instance they provided great suggestions that always
paid off. Finally, and most importantly, the staff was very accomodating
in our time of need. Unexpectedly, our 5 year old had a late night
reaction to some medication that required us to seek medical attention.
Normally, the Highmark shuttle stops running at 11pm and it was well after
that when we needed to go. Fortunately, the evening's driver Brian had
stayed a bit late to take care of something in the hotel and immediately
offered to take my son and I to the Yampa Valley Urgent Care center. Not
only did he get us to the facility, he offered to stay in the waiting room
to make sure we were ok. After getting my son settled and talking with the
doctor, I realized we were going to be there awhile and alerted Brian that
he should head back. Before leaving, he gave me a card with the phone
number of the local taxi service for our eventual return. Needless to say,
this attention isn't found at your average accomodation and it made us feel
very comfortable in an uncomfortable time. For the majority of the
remainder of our trip we were grounded in our room with our little guy and
the staff made sure we had everything we needed. They even offered to make
a run on our behalf to the grocery store to get a few necessities while he
got better. Fortunately, he perked up on our last day and Lynda made
reservations for us to wrap our trip up in style with an excursion to
Strawberry Park Hot Springs through Sweet Pea Tours. Don't miss this as it
allowed us to leave on a high note.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but Jamie, Lynda, Brian, Ryan, Lauren,
Jordan, Kyle, Scott, Glenda, and Zach make this place what it is. The
actual rooms are beautiful, but it is the Staff that makes this place the
best in Steamboat. This was our first trip to Steamboat and I am hopeful
we can find a way to stay at the Highmark every time.

Our family stayed in a 3 bedroom/3bath unit for the last week of ski season. As with the other reviews, I was very impressed with the facilities and staff. The unit was furnished very nicely and felt like you were staying in someone's home. The staff could not have been more friendly and accomodating. My only quibbles were in the design of the building. The windows let in a lot of street noise, the interior lighting was not great and the heating system constantly made noise to the point of waking me at night. These were all minor things and in general it is a very nice place. The beds were really comfortable. Great Mexican restaurant and a small (expensive) grocery store were across the street. They are very acomodating with their shuttle but I suggest you rent a car for more freedom to roam.

The Highmark in Steamboat Springs, CO was our choice for a family ski trip. When we arrived to check in, the front desk staff were waiting for us, keys and info already together. They explained the facility ( a condo/hotel) and we received an (unexpected, but great!) upgrade. The condo was perfectly appointed with everything you could need for your stay, and gorgeously decorated. The maid service daily was impeccable, as was the nightly turn down service. They had that wonderful, uncanny ability to figure out when you were out of the room to do all the work. We were traveling with our two young children, and that was very helpful. the staff on all points were friendly, helpful and very good-natured and polite. Amazing service!
There was a continental breakfast service in the mornings which was relatively basic, but good.
By far, the facility itself, location and staff were the best.
The only downside was the single elevator to service all of the rooms, but hey - it's only four stories and the stairs are doctor recommended!
There is quite a bit of construction in Steamboat at present, so what could have been a short walk to the base of the mountain was blocked by construction, but the Highmark provides shuttle service AND a complimentary ski check on the mountain. In any case, the walk is not bad if you have to make it. The hotel took all of our ski equipment up to the ski check upon arrival, and that made it very easy to go back and forth on ski days. We never waited more than 4 minutes for the shuttle going either way.
We came to the Highmark from another ski resort town, so we know what mountain town services are like, and I would go there again....and again.
