“Can't Wait to Go Back Next Year”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2012

Our Boy Scout troop has stayed at the Allington 5 years in a row for annual ski trip to Wolf Creekl and we look forward to returning next year. Clean rooms, friendly/courteous staff and an excellent breakfast buffet make this the only hotel we'll stay at. The only reason for not giving the Allington a 5 star rating is they need to upgrade the tv's in the rooms. Thanks to the Allington Inn & Suites for helping create wonderful memories for our boys.

Recently stayed at the Allington Inn with a large group. We found the rooms large and clean. The hot tub and pool were perfect for evening relaxing and the staff went over board to make us feel welcomed.

We stayed three nights skiing Wolf Creek and Allington was an amazing place to stay during 12/27/2011. We had 48 people with 13 rooms and all were cleaned and great for our trip. We made accommodations to use the business room and was overwhelmed how great that made our stay. We catered our meals in to eat instead of going out(if you cater, use Sun Flour Catering and Baking, Awesome!). Brenda, was very helpful to our needs and questions, knew the town to give us places to eat and buy supplies. The pool was clean, stocked with clean towels, Hot tube worked and was full of guest, because it rocked. Hallways were clean as was the lobby. This was a great price and great stay. Rented ski gear across the street from 8200 Sports, great guys there as well.

Stayed here 12/20/11 and found that the lady running the desk was surly, unfriendly and classless. She seemed to be punishing paying customers for the fact that she had to work. We saw her and the other person at the desk outside smoking every time they had a chance. If not for this woman, we would have had an okay experience. The breakfast area was too small and had only minimal items and we ended up going to another place for breakfast. There seemed to be much better choices in town. We intend to return to the fun town but not to this motel..

Pros: best hotel in South Fork, CO, close to ski area- Wolf Creek, clean, friendly staff at front desk, ease of getting a reservation

Cons: no elevator to second floor, very weak coffee, mediocre continental breakfast, thin walls, uncomfortable beds.

This is a good place to stay if you are doing a ski trip to Wolf creek & coming from the east side of the pass. The hotel is pretty typical for a small-town western hotel - nothing fancy but just fine for this type of trip where you basically are just sleeping there & nothing else. Continental breakfast was just OK but definitely got enough to power through the morning of skiing. If you were looking for analogs, it would be similar to a Super 8. All this being said, I do believe this is probably the nicest place to stay in South Fork.

Read my review from 2009 and was reminded of why I enjoy staying at the Allington - they really take care of their customers! We were booked to stay the weekend after Thanksgiving and on our way to Colorado, Friday afternoon, had car trouble. When I called to explain the situation, Emily, the desk manager, graciously canceled our reservation, though she offered to hold it for us in case we were able to make the trip. We eventually were able to get back on the road, called the hotel back, and a place was found for us - at the same great rate we had previously.

Sure there is a little wear and tear. Skiers, boots and snow can be very hard on a hotel, but the cleaning staff is exceptional. The beds so comfy. The breakfast is good and plentiful. We have never been disappointed when booking the Allington - it simply makes me happy to pull into their parking lot.
