“Location good, check in not so good.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

Location is good, near the Mall (short walk to slopes, restaurants, ski rentals, shopping).
Biggest complaint was check in. We arrived early, before check in time, about 100pm and were told our room was not ready. Would be ready at 400pm. Ok, so we ate lunch, rented skis, etc.
Came back at 4pm and were told it would be another 2 hours before we could check in at 600pm! With our daughter not feeling well this was not good. After waiting til about 445pm the Mgr allowed us to get into the room while they were still cleaning. They finished cleaning about 600pm. Loft Unit K20 was big enough for the 3 of us but a little dated.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

We’ve stayed at Aspenwood Condominiums multi times over the last few years and believe me, they are not all the same as they are privately owned but managed by Snowmass Hospitality. As such, some owners reinvest in their condos and some clearly don’t. The quality level can go from a high three or low four to a place we will not stay. Simply put, be very specific about the building and unit you are getting or go somewhere else. The outdoor pool is great with a BBQ grill and has two nice spa/hot tubs with small waterfalls and natural rock. BUT, be sure to ask if these will be open for the dates you will be there as it seems to close and open randomly. These condos are only one block above the Snowmass Village Mall so rentals/eating/nightlife is really close. There is also a major construction project between these condos and the mall. This is not a big deal but does distract from the surrounding beauty. The sign said “Open Winter 2013”. Not sure if they are talking spring or fall but it looks like they had a ways to go. On our most current stay, they first gave us the wrong type condo then gave us one that was VERY dated with mice droppings. Ultimately they got us in one that was dated but clean…and we were worn-out. Even though we’ve had positive experiences, Aspenwood really is a crap shoot.

Room Tip: Request a renovated room and ask for the specific building, condo number and write the reservation a...

You are correct that these condos are individually owned, and we do our best in trying to describe layout, upgrades, condition etc, and try to price along those lines as well. We're glad we were able to get you into the condo you liked, and would love to discuss next years travel plans at your convenience.

I won't ever use Hotwire again. They suggested this was a 3 star comparable to Homewood suites. No comparison what-so-ever to the 2 Homewood Suites we've stayed at. Dirty stairs with lots of spider webs. Old, funky, vinyl floor that I recall my parents had in the early 70's. Bed was hard. Sofa bed had a dirty spread on it. Utensils in the kitched were dirty. The "table" was a card table with uncomfortable old chairs around it. We also stayed at Laurelwood just up the hill - a MUCH nicer place, even if rooms a bit smaller.

Room Tip: I think they are privately owned, so maybe some are newly remodeled?

We stayed at Aspenwood K 6, 1. floor.
We had a small but efficient kitchen, a living room, bathroom and a tiny, tiny bedroom. The bedroom walls were so tight next to the bed that two people could not have stood there at the same time, kind of claustrophobic. All in all it was okay. Maybe not the most up to date condo we have stayed at but sufficient enough.
We were supposed to have free Wifi service, was 9 out of 10 case not available. Several servers were being offered but they kept on popping in and out continously. We asked to check the (very weak) signal several times but nothing changed.
Found the location very convinient, about 5 minutes to the "Brothers Grill" and you can shoot down the slopes.

Room Tip: Stay lower on the mountain. The higher up the condo, the harder the walk up after dinner will be. Re...

We have stayed at Aspenwood many times over the years and were extremely disappointed in this winter's stay. The condo we were assigned looks like it has not been updated since 1970. The carpet is worn out and dirty. There is an alarm clock from the 1970s and a boombox from the 1980s on the single dresser. The appliances seem to be the originals. The fridge hums loudly all night long, 3 of the 4 burners on the stove don't work, and the microwave is so tiny you can hardly fit a standard size plate in it. The closet doors are hanging off the runners and won't slide open or closed. There is no battery in the wall clock, but at least it's correct twice a day since it's stuck on 9:30. The sofa and love seat are worn and sagging. The bed is very hard, but the pull out bed from the hideaway couch is soft and saggy, very worn out. The mattress pad and sheets won't stay in place. The lightbulbs are are 40W in the lamps (one of the lamps doesn't work) and it's always dark even with all of the lights on. There are no shelves or hooks for hanging ski clothes, and they don't give you a key to use the ski storage closet. The decor on the wall is very random. We called to voice our concern and were told there were no other units available. This place is in desperate need of refurbishing. We won't be returning.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2008

We stayed in Aspenwook (Room K15) January 2008. The room was Studio w/ Loft. Sleeps 6, full kitchen. It was clean but slighty outdated decor. Had a circuit breaker problem one night that was quickly fixed by management. Hot tub and heated pool was outdoors but very relaxing after day on the slopes. Short walk to slope of Snowmass mountain (the biggest and best mountain in the area). They offer free shuttle to and from the airport in Aspen but we rented a car ($25/day on Priceline). Parking was across the street from the condo ($28 a week).

Aspen is 11 miles away from Aspenwood. There is free parking on Sunday in the city of Aspen. Three other ski resorts (Aspen, Buttermilk (Winter X-Games) and Highlands) are located in or around Aspen.

Ate at Matsuhisa, Boogie's, Village Steakhouse, Hickory House, ig Hoss, Taster's Pizza, Cantina all very good.

Overall, great trip at cheaper property in Snowmass/Aspen area (around $300/night with taxes,etc.).

When we arrived we were put in a dingy, moldy studio with shag carpeting & cabinetry that appeared to have been installed in 1970. Very run down. I called to complain, & the next day the Silvertree switched us into a great refurbished unit. Our kitchen was well stocked, it had a clean bathroom, & the bed was extra comfy. My parents were also in a refurbished unit & theirs was very nice as well.

The bellboys, receptionists, concierges, etc. go out of their way to help & get an A+ for service. The hot tub & pool are clean & pretty (they've built them in rock formations), & the slopeside location can't be beat. Just make sure you don't stay in an older unit.

  • Liked — Refurbished units are great, slopeside location, great bellboys & reception
  • Disliked — Maid service is sporadic - they don't come every day & when they do they only change towels...
