“Hotwire compared this to Homewood Suites? What a joke”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2012

I won't ever use Hotwire again. They suggested this was a 3 star comparable to Homewood suites. No comparison what-so-ever to the 2 Homewood Suites we've stayed at. Dirty stairs with lots of spider webs. Old, funky, vinyl floor that I recall my parents had in the early 70's. Bed was hard. Sofa bed had a dirty spread on it. Utensils in the kitched were dirty. The "table" was a card table with uncomfortable old chairs around it. We also stayed at Laurelwood just up the hill - a MUCH nicer place, even if rooms a bit smaller.

Room Tip: I think they are privately owned, so maybe some are newly remodeled?

We stayed at Aspenwood K 6, 1. floor.
We had a small but efficient kitchen, a living room, bathroom and a tiny, tiny bedroom. The bedroom walls were so tight next to the bed that two people could not have stood there at the same time, kind of claustrophobic. All in all it was okay. Maybe not the most up to date condo we have stayed at but sufficient enough.
We were supposed to have free Wifi service, was 9 out of 10 case not available. Several servers were being offered but they kept on popping in and out continously. We asked to check the (very weak) signal several times but nothing changed.
Found the location very convinient, about 5 minutes to the "Brothers Grill" and you can shoot down the slopes.

Room Tip: Stay lower on the mountain. The higher up the condo, the harder the walk up after dinner will be. Re...

We have stayed at Aspenwood many times over the years and were extremely disappointed in this winter's stay. The condo we were assigned looks like it has not been updated since 1970. The carpet is worn out and dirty. There is an alarm clock from the 1970s and a boombox from the 1980s on the single dresser. The appliances seem to be the originals. The fridge hums loudly all night long, 3 of the 4 burners on the stove don't work, and the microwave is so tiny you can hardly fit a standard size plate in it. The closet doors are hanging off the runners and won't slide open or closed. There is no battery in the wall clock, but at least it's correct twice a day since it's stuck on 9:30. The sofa and love seat are worn and sagging. The bed is very hard, but the pull out bed from the hideaway couch is soft and saggy, very worn out. The mattress pad and sheets won't stay in place. The lightbulbs are are 40W in the lamps (one of the lamps doesn't work) and it's always dark even with all of the lights on. There are no shelves or hooks for hanging ski clothes, and they don't give you a key to use the ski storage closet. The decor on the wall is very random. We called to voice our concern and were told there were no other units available. This place is in desperate need of refurbishing. We won't be returning.

We stayed in Aspenwook (Room K15) January 2008. The room was Studio w/ Loft. Sleeps 6, full kitchen. It was clean but slighty outdated decor. Had a circuit breaker problem one night that was quickly fixed by management. Hot tub and heated pool was outdoors but very relaxing after day on the slopes. Short walk to slope of Snowmass mountain (the biggest and best mountain in the area). They offer free shuttle to and from the airport in Aspen but we rented a car ($25/day on Priceline). Parking was across the street from the condo ($28 a week).

Aspen is 11 miles away from Aspenwood. There is free parking on Sunday in the city of Aspen. Three other ski resorts (Aspen, Buttermilk (Winter X-Games) and Highlands) are located in or around Aspen.

Ate at Matsuhisa, Boogie's, Village Steakhouse, Hickory House, ig Hoss, Taster's Pizza, Cantina all very good.

Overall, great trip at cheaper property in Snowmass/Aspen area (around $300/night with taxes,etc.).

When we arrived we were put in a dingy, moldy studio with shag carpeting & cabinetry that appeared to have been installed in 1970. Very run down. I called to complain, & the next day the Silvertree switched us into a great refurbished unit. Our kitchen was well stocked, it had a clean bathroom, & the bed was extra comfy. My parents were also in a refurbished unit & theirs was very nice as well.

The bellboys, receptionists, concierges, etc. go out of their way to help & get an A+ for service. The hot tub & pool are clean & pretty (they've built them in rock formations), & the slopeside location can't be beat. Just make sure you don't stay in an older unit.

  • Liked — Refurbished units are great, slopeside location, great bellboys & reception
  • Disliked — Maid service is sporadic - they don't come every day & when they do they only change towels...

There is nothing in the information and booking agent does not mention there is no air conditioning. It can get warm and although it cools down at night, some nights it was not that cool. Unit was clean and well furnished.

  • Liked — free wireless internet, size of room, near hiking
  • Disliked — uncomfortably hot some nights and pillows like a rock

My husband, four year old daughter and myself just returned from a stay here. We had a studio condo on the ground floor in the "L" section, there was no terrace. The condo was a bit larger than I had expected. The decor was nothing to write home about but wasn't horrible either. The kitchen was well equipped and I didn't lack for anything while we were there. Maid service was every other day and they did a fine job. The pool and jacuzzi area were very nice.

The location was fine for us. It wasn't quite a ski in and out but we left our equipment everyday at the mountain and so the walk up from the slopes did not bother us. It was very convenient to the Snowmass Village Mall where we had dinner every evening. The food there isn't anything that will make the next issue of Gourmet, and usually we are foodies, but this was a trade off for us, after a day of skiing and not having to drive we could indulge in another glass of wine, or two, and just walk back to the room.

All in all I would definitely stay here again. If you are just looking for a clean place to crash at night, have a bowl of cereal in the AM and conveniently walk to the slopes for the rest of the day-it's perfect. If you want luxury and a gourmet kitchen to cook in, I might look elsewhere.

  • Liked — Proximity to the slopes
  • Disliked — Difficult internet access
