Our suite was super clean! I can't imagine keeping these places right next to the beach free of sand, because every time we walked in we had sand on our shoes-we kept our shoes by the door but still, we tracked sand in. The tile floors probably help, but with 5 of us in the room we definitely tracked sand in. After housekeeping came, the floors were super clean and sand-free. I want to know their trick!!
The Motel is within easy (one block) walking distance of the beach (showers/bathrooms available), beach shop, italian restaurant with outdoor seating/live music and bar, and Publix grocery store-it's not full size but it sells all the basics-we needed cold/allergy medicine while we were there and the prices were fine. If you haven't shopped Publix before you're in for a treat-their deli is a great place to get supplies for sandwiches. We love white mountain bread ;)
Here's what you need to know about the suites-ours had one very small bathroom with plenty of towels, shampoo, conditioner and soap. It was a little tight when we were getting ready to go out, but we made it work. Also, the entrance to the suite is thru the king bedroom (with a nice fold out futon), and there is no door to close that room off from the rest of the suite, but there is a door on the queen room. These are the minor downsides to an otherwise great property.
The rooms are brights with every room having a good sized window and blinds or curtains, not much of a view.
The kitchenette has 2 burners, a sink and a generously sized mini fridge (decent size freezer has a separate door from the fridge and would hold a container of ice cream easily). There is zero counter space-the only work area is the kitchen table. The kitchen is supplied with a small coffee maker (the kind that holds 2 cups of coffee). Setup is typical for hotel-pouches of coffee and packets of creamer, sugar, napkin and stir stick. Utensils in our unit included a medium sized serrated knife, forks, knives and spoons, a corkscrew that can also work as a bottle opener, a large serving/cooking spoon (or two?) and I believe there was a spatula. There were several pots-a large pot, saucepan and small saucepan...all with lids. The motel supplied a sponge and dishwashing liquid. We brought cooking oil-if you plan to do any cooking at all I recommend bringing oil/butter, a dishtowel (or you could use a handtowel from the bathroom...) or some paper towels. The hotel supplied a few paper plates, plastic cups and paper coffee cups. We went to the front to ask for some salt and pepper and they happily obliged us by supplying packets of both. We bought paper plates, but I'm sure that if we'd asked they would have given us paper plates or styrofoam bowls from the breakfast buffet supplies.
In my opinion, the kitchen is great for keeping plenty of drinks cold, making sandwiches (Publix is right around the corner!), and maybe some very light cooking. There were only 3 chairs so we couldn't all eat around the table. I recommend going out for a nice big social meal because you probably won't get it if you try to do it in your room.
There are 2 chairs and a little side table outside each room. There are ashtrays available.
The pool is nice and clean-I'm not sure if it's heated but it sure was warm when we were there. There is plenty of nice seating-2 tables with benches and umbrellas and lots of lounge chairs. You can get pool towels from the front desk.
Breakfast is generous-bagels and cream cheese, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, a variety of cereal (including Kashi!), oatmeal packets, milk, juice, danishes/muffins and fresh fruit. They use 2 coffee pots to keep fresh coffee going and there's hot water for tea/oatmeal. If anything is missing, it is not hard to find someone who works there to help you with it. That brings me to my final point...
I really can't say enough about the customer service at this establishment. Everytime I asked for anything, they supplied it immediately and asked if there was anything else we needed. Whenever we saw one of the owners/employees they asked how out stay was and reminded us to let them know if there was anything we needed. They were eager to please and offered great service.
