“Breath taking.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2012

I make this hike a few times a year. The way up is beautiful and the view at the top is incredible. It's a short hike but it's all up hill. My 60 year old mother does it with me though, so it isn't hard.

It's definitely worth a visit or 10.

“Relatively Easy Hike to a real Fire Lookout tower”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2012

Most reasonably adventureous and decent shape people can make this hike. The drive on Rampart Range road can be a bit hard on nice cars though. Take a picnic lunch. There are no facilities on the hike so use facilities at parking lot or at the top. Be sure to climb the last few steps to the tower which is manned in the summer months.

“Unbelievable Hike”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2012 via mobile

Hike is tougher than you think but the views are amazing. Plan on about two hours to complete the hike and be prepared for about 9 miles of bumpy dirt roads. Don't miss the views from the watch tower.

“Our annual family hike destination”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2012

Spectacular views back to the front range and into the mountains...leave in the mid-AM and pack a lunch. There's a small meadows type area at the top to stop and snack before you take the steps up to the fire look-out station. Avoid weekend and holidays.

A pretty easy 60+/-minutes or so up and fine for families.
We make this a annual family outing and everyone from 5 year olds to the teens enjoy this hike.
Lots of spots for family view photos.

“good views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2012

Devil's Head Fire Lookout is an excellent place to look out over the unspoiled forest and mountains behind Manitou Springs (a worthy destination of its own). The forest is primarly pine with stands of remarkably old aspen. Unusual pink rock formations, boulders, and cliffs abound. The roads in the area are well maintained dirt/gravel, so you don't need 4x4 to access but be sure to fill your gas tank and pack your own water because there's no development. Try to find the old quarry where nice sized pink quartz is strewn on top of the ground.
