We took a youth group from Texas to Colorado for our first ski trip. While there we encountered many challenges due to blizzards that hit Salida, impacting our ability to travel and get to the ski area.

The staff, management and owner of the Super 8 in Salida could not have been more helpful. They went out of our way to make our stay comfortable. The staff gave us personal attention that helped us get our young people to the ski area in spite of travel restrictions we couldn't meet. When we had to stay an extra day they went out of their way to help us keep our rooms and even found a way for us to eat lunch with a ministry for free. (Many of our young people ran out of money due to the unexpected extra day.) The staff printed reports of road conditions, not just for Colorado, but for our whole route.

Our whole group loved the breakfasts and thought it was an extra treat to come back each afternoon to freshly made, wonderful tasting hot chocolate.

The rooms were nice and housekeeping was very patient with rooms made very messy by young people. The only downside was that the bathrooms could be updated and we had to manage when we took showers due to hot water limitations. But none of that put a damper on the experience for any one in our group.

I have had the opportunity to travel to many places, from budget to four-star hotels, over the years and this was the best overall experience I've had. I would, and have, recommend Super 8 in Salida regardless of when you plan to travel to Colorado. They were awesome!!!!

If you are planning a ski trip to Monarch and looking for an economical place to stay, my husband and I heartily recommend the Salida Super 8. We stayed there last season, and have spent 2 week-long stays there this season. We've been really pleased with the accomodations & service each time. The location is very handy - just a half hour drive to the mountain or to the Mt. Princeton hot springs, and only five minutes to the downtown shops and restaurants. The rooms are clean and comfortable. There's an indoor pool and hot tub, as well as 2 out-door hot tubs, that are clean and well-maintained. Even more important to us is the laid back, friendly atmosphere. From the managers right thru to the housekeeping and maintenance crew, everyone we've come into contact with has been consistently pleasant and helpful.

WE love to visit Salida. This was our second time at the Super 8. The hotel was excellent and the service was the best we have had. We will return.

Whilst staying at Motel 8 Salida for 2 nights in September 2006 I was taken ill with an extremley bad attack of Gastric Flu.
The Management were FANTASTIC!. They tried to get a Doctor and when one wasn't available they suggested the local hospital.
They kept our room longer for us in the event we got held up at the Hospital and said we could stay longer than our agreed 2 days if I wasn't well enough to travel.They helped us make calls to UK to sort out Insurance and refused payment for the phone calls.
The Hotel was clean, tidy and had almost all we needed. But most of all the help and kindness shown to us was just wonderful.
