WE love to visit Salida. This was our second time at the Super 8. The hotel was excellent and the service was the best we have had. We will return.

Whilst staying at Motel 8 Salida for 2 nights in September 2006 I was taken ill with an extremley bad attack of Gastric Flu.
The Management were FANTASTIC!. They tried to get a Doctor and when one wasn't available they suggested the local hospital.
They kept our room longer for us in the event we got held up at the Hospital and said we could stay longer than our agreed 2 days if I wasn't well enough to travel.They helped us make calls to UK to sort out Insurance and refused payment for the phone calls.
The Hotel was clean, tidy and had almost all we needed. But most of all the help and kindness shown to us was just wonderful.

Total money-grubbing rip-off. I initially booked 2 nights. Later I tried to cancel the first night, but was not allowed to. When I checked in the following afternoon, a beer party was already in progress next door. Initially, they didn't want to find another room. After considerable pushing, they found another room - but charged me a $10.00 cleaning fee - for a room I had paid for and hadn't used the previous night!

Their total attitude was squeezing whatever monty they could out of you, for a dirty, old motel.

Granted, we were travelling with our dog, and so we were probably given an older, smoking room because of him. That's fine. But the room smelled horrible- old smoke, must, fried food, and industrial strength "air freshener". My fiance saw a cockroach. All of the furniture was old and worn. It looked like something you'd see out by the curb in front of a college rental house with a "free" sign on it. There were two twin beds. One of them was totally shot- the other, passably comfortable. The blankets on the beds were obviously old.
The carpet was gross. The next morning, as we packed our truck, I witnessed the house cleaning manager verbally haranging her staff right out in the open for everyone to hear. She was especially upset because they were not adhering to the dress code and "it looked weird in front of the guests". You couldn't pay me to stay there again.
