“Great place to stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2012

What a blessing to find this lovely motel in Salida! We needed a place for my husband and I, our granddaugter and her friend and were thrilled to find the perfect place. Two bedrooms with kitchen, living and dining area all for a great price! And the hotel staff was so friendly and helpful too!!
Highly recommend them to all!

Nice, simple motel with hot tub.... property has had recent updates in and out....Close (6 blocks) walk to downtown and the river....rooms are neat, clean, quiet. not as costly as the places in old downtown and you dont have to take the care like the places off the highway.......

I spent one night at this very reasonably-priced motel in the quaint town of Salida on my way to Great Sand Dunes National Park. The desk clerk was very friendly, the room very clean, with a nice mountain view. The property was very clean and well kept, with flower boxes giving all the buildings a homey, old-world feel. There is a jacuzzi for guest use, and the "hot springs pool" which I did not see, so I cannot comment on it. The motel is pet friendly with no extra charge, a great feature in CO, where it seems everyone has dogs. When I booked my room, I was asked about the size requirements I would need, and given a room accordingly. The room I had was fine for a single person or a couple, though the bathroom was very compact, I've had smaller. The location is very close to the downtown, and menus are provided to the many dining choices in town. I did not know that just outside of town in the other direction, are all the chain hotels, restaurants and stores. I felt the in-town prices were high, and would have settled for a cheap meal to save a few dollars as I am on a very tight budget. I ended up eating at a very nice little pizzeria/brewery that I felt had the most reasonable prices in town. I understand wanting to promote small local businesses, but Wendy's would have been ok on my finances. Will absolutely recommend the Woodland Motel and would stay again.

Love, Love, Love, this place. It is a precious gem in the heart of the Rockies. We were looking for a nice, clean motel that wasn't outrageous in price and we found it here. We had a room with 2 double beds and it also had a full kitchen for hardly any extra cost. Spacious rooms, clean, clean, clean. Hot tub was wonderful after 4wheeling all day in the rain...extra nice staff were there to help you in any way they could. I can't say enough good about this motel. It is a must stay if you are in the Salida area.

Room Tip: You can have just about any type room. If you need a kitchen they have fully equipped kitchens, or s...

We have stayed at the Woodland Motel in Salida, Colorado many times over the past few years. The quality of the rooms and the service has been consistently excellent, the facilities are fresh, updated and in repair, and the prices more than competitive. The owners and the staff are polite and very accommodating. The Woodland Motel is located in a quiet part of town away from the commercial main drag but with easy access to the heart of Salida. The Woodland Motel is always our first choice when staying in Salida, Colorado.

Room Tip: There are rooms and kitchenettes; let the folks know what you need.

Although in an older building this motel is well maintained and cleaned and has excellent facilities. The king bed was firm and comfortable with no noticeable wear, lighting in the room was good and the wireless internet was as good as any hotel I've stayed in, indistinguishable from our home system (though we live in a rural area so don't have 50Mb access). The bathroom was a bit cramped. Parking is just a little limited at the hotel though there were plenty of places around that could have been used if necessary. We stayed 4 nights and I did always find a space at the motel, though getting a full size truck in and out was an exercise in precision from some of them. Although on a corner of the secondary road through Salida and opposite a lighted ball field noise and light were not an issue. The staff were friendly and efficient. Pet friendly, even had a container of pick-up bags on the outside back wall. There a couple of outside tables with chairs where we sat with friends in the evening. I gave average for value as it was over $100 a night for a non-luxury place and average for location as it was unremarkable.

Sept 2009 - Well priced and very accommodating. The owner/manager is very friendly and great conversation. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. You can tell it's very well run. Worthy of it's high praise, one of the best motels I've ever stayed.

Room Tip: call and talk to the proprietor - very nice guy and happy to help accommodate you
