4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

We stayed 2 days in March and were very impressed overall. I will list the pros/cons.
Pros
-Small town charm
-Great continental breakfast with fresh hard boiled eggs and cooked waffles
-Very friendly owners-my daughter really took a liking to one of the owners and her dachsund, Oscar
-Rooms great, nicely updated and very clean
-Great price for rooms
Cons
-The room we were in was 2nd floor right above the lobby, you could hear everything going on. Don't know if a different room down the hall would alleviate that much noise
-Bedding was weird, duvet covers and the comforters slid to bottom of covers and off bed. Had to constantly pull comforter off of the floor

Overall, we would definately stay here again. There is not alot to choose from in Salida, a bunch of motels, I would much rather stay in a nice clean hotel, and you can stay for roughly the same price as any of the motels, even less!

Room Tip: Request a room not outside of the lobby.

When I booked the room I was under the impression that they had a pool when in fact they do not, they did give a discount to the local pool but it was only an adult discount as was cheaper for kids at the pool.
The couple running the place got into a huge fight in the back of the place and was seen by myself and my grandson, was not at all professional.

The hotel is very nicely decorated with an outdoorsy feeling. The owners were very friendly, especially during the breakfast hours. The hotel does not have some of the amenities hotels nearby had, no pool or hot tub or spa. The continental breakfast was decent compared to some other hotels I've stayed at. There were danishes, rolls, bagels, toast, yogurt, cereal, coffee, milk, and juice to choose from. The room was very clean but had a couple issues. There was no ventilation in the restroom which wasn't terrible but was missed following a hot shower. There was however a heat lamp in the bathroom that was nice for a cold morning. The light near the sink flickered frequently if the switch was touched even in the slightest. A big plus to the set up was having a light switch by the bed that switched the lights and tv off all in one so there was no need to get out of bed just before sleep. The walls were somewhat thin making it easy to hear most noises in the hotel unfortunately. Overall we felt we had a good deal on the room while we skied at Monarch.
