Overall - this was one of the most unpleasant experiences I have ever encountered trying to book a room. I will NEVER stay at the Silver Ridge Lodge in Salida, nor will I recommend anyone else stay there either.

Today I tried to book a room for 3 nights at the Silver Ridge Lodge. Not only was the proprietor and his wife rude, but they were dishonest as well. My conversation was abruptly ended when the proprietor hung up on me.

The entire time, both husband and wife seemed agitated and mad at me - even though I had just called and was trying to book and pay for 3-4 nights at their establishment. He would not stand by the price quoted by his wife. It was difficult to figure out whether they had availability or not.

If the proprietors' demeanor was any indication of how we would have been treated had I actually booked a room, I'm glad I found another Salida hotel and NOT staying with them.

Pleasant surprise after a long road trip of good, bad & ugly hotel stays. We were directed there by the nearby Holiday Inn (rooms soldout) and we ended up stumbling onto a gem. The room was the cleanest motel room we've ever stayed in...I even went around feeling the tops of doorframes looking for dust and there was none! What a great find! And they are part of the AAA recommended lodging and AAA rates. We'll be back the next time we head through that area. Keep up the high standards!

This was the third time my husband and I have stayed here in the last 6 years. It is the only place we stay when we visit Salida. It is an older motel that has been remodeled. The rooms are nice sized, and EVERYTHING is VERY CLEAN, and neat and tidy. The grounds and flowers are beautiful and well manicured. They have a wonderful continental breakfast with breads to toast, pastries, fruit, milk, juice, cereal, hard boiled eggs, and delicious coffee. They have a nice pool, and a beautiful spa area. It is one of the most reasonably priced hotels also. Everytime we have stayed here, it has been an exceptional experience. Each time we are amazed that there are still NICE, comfortable, motels like this. We will definitely stay here on our next visit to Salida.

We stayed several nights here in Sept 2003, selecting it because they accepted our 1 1/2 year old miniature schnauzer. It was great and we've come back each year since, and have reservations for the coming Sept, 2007. Ted and Teresa, the owners, are just really nice people. The rooms are always clean and comfortable, with microwave, refrigerator and plenty of hot water. The breakfast is nothing special but has far more variety than we have at home, including at least 2 juices, 3 cereals, several breads and pastries, fresh fruit and -- hard boiled eggs! And coffee. LOTS of coffee!! I decided to post this review after reading a couple of negative ones because our experiences here have always been absolutely positive!
