I've been to this restaurant several times passing through Salida. I have to say that my favorite meal is the stuffed quail. They have awesome desserts as well, and wonderful service.

On one of the main downtown streets in Salida, "The Laughing Ladies" was a delight! It's pricey, but my sister and I decided to share a meal - we often find American meals are TOO big, and since we were traveling, couldn't take half home with us. We ordered fresh salmon and a spinach salad. The salmon, we were told, was crusted with pesto, seared briefly, then dipped in vinaigrette and served with a lemon-butter and garlic sauce. Divine!! It came with mashed potatoes, fresh green beans, and rolls and butter. With wine for one of us and a cuba-libre, the bill was $23, and well worth it.

The decor was lovely and the atmosphere fun, and the maitre de and waitress were very nice.

This is by far the best restaurant in town. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. The owners Jeff and Margie moved here from Napa Valley and cook up excellent dishes. The wine selection is also very good.

Highly recommended.
