“A great place and Motorcycle Friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

We took a ride out to Redstone and spent the night at the Redstone Inn. Nice property that is well maintained and has a focus on its guests. Pool and Hot tub are nice. Bar is well run and friendly. They have live music in the Park for the summer series. We enjoyed the town as everyone is very friendly.

Room Tip: Second story gives a nice view without putting up with parking lot noise. During the Lunch and Dinn...

First, let me set your expectations. If you frequent high end luxury hotels, please note the word "historic" in the title. I don't want to see negative reviews of a fabulous inn because someone was expecting the Waldorf.

We stayed in the Dormer Queen room. It was quaint and small. It was barely large enough to house the queen size bed and half bath, but we loved the feel of the history all around us. The room has a half bath and there are men's and women's bathrooms on the floor with showers that are shared amongst guests on the floor. While the accommodations weren't posh, they were adequate. I should also note that we chose the room solely on price. This is likely the cheapest room they rent so feel free to spend more and get a much larger and more luxurious room!

We were greeted warmly by the staff at the front desk. Throughout our stay, the staff at the front desk were friendly, accommodating and helpful. I even called them the day of our arrival to request fruit and champagne. Knowing this is a smaller family style inn, I knew it was short notice but they accommodated my request and went out of their way to make sure the fruit basket and champagne were placed at the right time so they weren't sitting out for hours. I can't say enough positive things about each and every staff member we encountered throughout our stay!

We arrived back at our room later one evening and were looking for somewhere to eat. We wandered into the bar at 8:55 PM knowing they close at 9:00. I wasn't expecting to be able to get anything more than a drink or maybe some bar food, but the wait staff went out of his way to make sure we got anything off their menu (the bar menu AND the regular restaurant menu). We just ordered some fish tacos and fish 'n' chips expecting something quick and dirty. We were both pleasantly surprised when we received our fresh entrees that were both delicious and well prepared! A wonderful surprise given we were expecting greasy bar food.

The solo guiterist providing live music during our late dinner was both fun and entertaining in spite of the fact there were probably only 10 people in the whole bar.

The surrounding scenery is absolutely stunning. I'll let the poets write a more appropriate description of the raw beauty that surrounds this wonderful inn.

There were nice outdoor spaces with a pool and hot tub. We met lots of wonderful people from all over the US while just relaxing in the hot tub.

The little town of Redstone is fun to walk through and explore. It's not commercialized so you won't find any glitzy shops or outlet stores. Instead you'll find friendly people and a few family owned businesses.

Redstone provides you close access to lots of other destinations like Carbondale, Marble, Glenwood Springs and Aspen. We found lots of great hiking and fishing in close proximity to the inn and enjoyed exploring some of the local hot springs.

We will definitely be back to this inn and will try one of the larger rooms!

The room was clean. The hotel was nice. The grounds need some help. But, if you are riding a motorcycle you will not be as welcomed as those traveling by Audi, Mercedes, BMW and so on. When checking in we inquired about the dinning room. We were told that "we" would do better at the cafe down the street. Later that evening we asked to have our drinks on the patio by the pool so one member of our party could smoke. We told by a server that we could go to the old patio behind the pool house if we wanted to smoke. Later that same evening, the same server was serving drinks to a gentelman smoking a cigar next to the pool.

The next morning for breakfast, we were told the same thing--we would do better at the cafe down the street--which was closed. I was very disapointed in our stay. The older staff is very curt and unfriendly. The younger staff seemed more welcoming. If you are motorcycling through this area, stay in Carbondale, you will be welcomed there.

Room Tip: Stay in Carbondale! Stop by this place, take a picture or two then move on.

The rooms were clean but, for a such a historical place you would think that the rooms would have neat paintinga on the walls , the color of the room did not lend any warm and fuzzy feeling - an it was the honeymoon room- - mocha was the color! The curtains were twill and lackluster, not even a fake flower! Indoor, outdoor carpeting.

I have to say that the inns food was good. I would stay somewhere else but eat at the inn.

We enjoyed 2 nights, Sunday and Monday after purchasing them through Groupon. I am thrilled at finding this gem and would stay here again without the Groupon. Our room included a king-size bed with private bath. After 4-wheeling on the Lead King Loop, this hotel was a wonderful place to relax in. The staff was friendly and helpful, the food was great, the bed so comfortable. We did not try out the pool or the exercise center. A balcony at the front and one at the back of our room provided seating and nice views. Such a quaint town, be sure to stroll through it. It would be a nice touch to add a fire pit to the patio for dining. There is minor maintenance needed such as paint on the outside railings and around the pool, but I would image that given due to the weather at its location there is a limited amount of time to do this. I gave it only 4 stars due to the fact that there was an unused, messy wedding tent blocking the view and the river from the patio. Please remove it when not in use or choose a better spot for it.

The room we stayed in with overall... disappointing. It was a pretty sparse, barren room lacking of the character I would expect for such a historic property. I suggest that you spend less and stay in one of the cute B&Bs in town. The only reason to stay here might be if you need the swimming pool in the Summer (although I am not sure whether there are any other accommodations with pools).

When the passes over the Continental Divide were closed at Vail Pass due to snow and accidents etc., we were stuck, but we wanted to keep moving, so we decided to go south and go over the McClure Pass that was still open . . . Wrong, as McClure Pass closed just before we got there. We backtracked and drove over the bridge into Restone Colorado and immediately fell in love. The scenery with fresh snow was wonderful, the Redstone Inn was open and had rooms that would accommodate our Chinese Shar Pei, Griffin also. The room was large, with 2 large Queen beds, a smaill kicthenette, working television and a shower with excellent water pressure.
We ate dinner at the Redstone Bar & Grill and the food was nicely prepared, tasty and very delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return when the weather is less snowy.
