“Sometimes getting stranded isn't such a bad thing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

Heading to Telluride I was detoured by a rain storm and mud slide that closed the road. Headed back down the road to a place that caught my eye a little earlier. I thought I would grab a bite and decided upon walking in to grab a room. The clerk (may have been one of the owners) was extremely helpful and I let her pick a room (though there was a slightly higher charge for a room with 2 queen beds I thought odd). No king rooms left. I was in no position to be picky. No AARP discount yet, but the room was just what I needed. Everything was clean and fresh, showing limited signs of wear. It looked out onto the enclosed yard and I note in the morning some dogs were playing out there, so it may be a pet friendly place. A little disruption in the television signal because of the storm also played with the internet signal at times.

Had dinner on-site too. It was great. Nice selection of well prepared items and good choice of several craft beers on tap. Waitstaff was a little overwhelmed by the crowds that came in from the road closure, but they handled the glut of business well. Morning complimentary breakfast was nice touch too!

The Angler Inn has very nice rooms at half the price of Telluride, if you don’t mind a 13 mile drive. Nice furniture, comfy beds with good linens, very nice bathrooms, toiletries worth stealing. There are only 14 rooms, and those on the ground floor have little patios. It is attached to the very good restaurant of the same name. It recently reopened under new ownership. Because there are so few rooms, the hotel desk is open limited hours, but if the restaurant is open, Ian (the owner) will set you up with a room. Having such a likeable, competent owner on the premises makes a big difference. The restaurant wasn’t open for breakfast, and breakfast wasn’t included in the price, but the rooms were such a bargain you could have truffles and caviar with your eggs in Telluride and still come out money ahead.

We found this cute little lodge for a baseball tournament in Telluride. The staff for the hotel and restaurant were excellent. Can't say enough how the staff were above and beyond any hotel I have stayed at. They do not have a pool but the large fenced in area with a fire pit and chairs made up for that. Our kids had so much fun sitting around the fire, roasting marshmallows and playing ball in the open area they didn't even notice there was not a pool. The rooms are really clean and they have water in your room when you arrive. There is also a small area set up with a Keurig for anytime you want hot coffee or tea. Also there is not a microwave or fridge in room but we faired well with our cooler. There is also a restaurant with an open patio area that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The hotel is small with a lodge feel. Most rooms have a balcony or deck. Very family friendly and affordable!! The owner greeted us many times to make sure we had everything we needed!! I will stay here again!!!

Telluride is fun to see, but overpriced and was filled up for a music festival. We heard about Angler from some other travelers at the Telluride Visitor Center. It was wonderful. Kind of an upscale but rustic lodge feeling. Room was very clean, nice bed. The entire staff was very friendly and accommodating. Great restaurant with indoor seating, bar, and patio seating. Backyard area with fire pit, bean bags, and dart boards. It was so refreshing to have a breakfast (comp with stay) that deviated from the usual motel fare. For example - fresh fruit, real yogurt, banana bread, granola, waffles. It would be great if they could add a treadmill as being right along the highway there was no place to go on a walk. There might be nearby hiking trails - I did not ask. I would definitely stay here again.

We stumbled across this gem over the 4th of July holiday. Intending to camp in Telluride, we found no available campsites and the only lodging in Telluride being over $400 a night. After a quick google search we found the Angler Inn, only 12 Miles from Telluride. They were so accommodating in such short notice and requested a reasonable rate. The hotel rooms are very nicely done with great views of the mountains. The onsite restaurant and bar was fabulous after a long day of traveling. The restaurant was closed our second day due to the holiday but they generously put out a complimentary continental breakfast that was the best I've had. I would recommend this place if you want to be near Telluride but don't want to deal with the hustle and bustle of tourist
