“What a nice Place!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

No, it's not a 5 star resort or anything like that, but... it has all you need! I really liked that it's small and uncrowded. Lots of space to walk around (the river runs behind it), stunning views,
CLEAN, comfortable, good sized rooms, HOT WATER with PRESSURE!! Also, very friendly, helpful staff and free continental breakfast (with good coffee!), If you're not looking to make your
hotel the final destination, I would recommend this place for the value. There is so much more to
spend your money on in the area, like the hot springs, many great restaurants, side trips in the 4
corners region. There is Plenty to offer, and the best things are FREE, like the views, an abundance of wildlife to be seen, and the people are wonderful - very friendly and welcoming. I love Pagosa Springs, and will return. I will probably be staying at the First Inn!

I enjoyed my stay at First Inn tremendously. The rooms were clean, odor free, the clerk behind the desk even helped unload my truck for me.
Breakfast was good. Would stay there again. People that put bad reviews just like to complain. There is nothing I could find wrong with this place. Now others I stayed at on the trip were just plain disgusting, not to mention they rip people off.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with no smoking and no pets.

My wife and I recently stayed here over night while on a bicycling trip. Pluses: friendly and helpful staff that let us check in earlier than posted time. Doors to rooms are off of inner central corridor vs. from the outside, which I think worked well for us. Not much of a view out the rooms, but a nice little city park along the San Juan river just out the back door. Minuses: beds had super bouncy mattresses, but they didn't hinder either my wife's nor my sleep; Walls are pretty thin, and we could hear our neighbors, but they were pretty quiet, so that wasn't a problem either. My wife noticed that the furniture was newer and of good quality, and the pain job in the room was also nice. Overall about as inexpensive as you can get in Pagosa Springs as there aren't any newer hotel chain establishments there.

Room Tip: As for a room on the North side, which is the opposite side from the parking lot.

We loved First Inn. The location was fabulous. Its right on the San Jaun river.Walk out your hotel door and you are on the river walk. The room was big, clean and quiet. The staff was incredibly friendly and Lou the owner was great.Interesting, fun and full of Pagosa history. You are close to everything in town and all the hot springs but just being so close to the river made it great. It more than exceeded our expectations.I would not stay anywhere else.It was friendly, warm and inviting.Susan S

Room Tip: Room 112...out the back door and there is the river and a walking path beside it

Good value for a two bedroom suite (which are hard to find!) but hotel is one of the most run down and out to date that I have stayed in for a long time. I hate to complain since this is a family owned hotel, but it really could use some TLC. For starters, screens on the windows! There is no AC unit in the bedroom (there is one in the living room) so we have to leave window open. Thank goodness there are not bugs. Towels are the ultra-skimpy kind, and rooms are very sparse. However, shower pressure was good and water was hot which is nice. Front desk staff was nothing to write home about. Lots of other options in Pagosa-- would suggest you look elsewhere.

Both the hallway to our room, and the room itself smelled bad. The mattresses were too soft. The coffee in the room was awful; the continental breakfast was the worst we have experienced. A higher grade of cleanliness would have been nice.

The location, near the centre of town and close to restaurants and shops, was the best thing I can say about this place. I would never stay there again.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else!
