“Wonderful hot springs and okay rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

Writing this review a bit late. My husband and I came up for new years of 2012. The hot springs are absolutely wonderful. We had a couples massage that was worth the money. Our room was fairly basic, nothing too special. The beds were so-so on comfort. Overall, this was a nice get away with okay rooms, awesome hot springs and great massages.

My husband and I stayed 4 nights in Pagosa Springs the first week (mid-week) in September 2012. We did not stay at The Springs Resort but we paid to spend time in the hot spring tubs. One day, we arrived at The Springs Resort at 6:30 pm and stayed until 10:30 pm. We paid $24 each (Age 55+) to enjoy all of 23 pools (including the 5 adult only pools). We had planned to spend about two hours but we enjoyed the pools so much that we stayed twice as long. The 5 adult only pools were at a higher elevation than the other pools so they had a slightly better view. Since the kids were back in school, we saw only 3 children and it was not crowded at all. We tried over half of the hot tubs. The pools were different temperatures, sizes and shapes. Some had waterfalls and some with water jets. I highly recommend taking a dip. We did not miss staying at The Springs Resort because of their hotel rates at high.

The lynn suite here iss just wonderful. it has 2 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king bed with its own bathroom and the shower has clear glass its so cool. The other bedroom has two queend beds and the living room has a sofasleeper so like 8 people could stay there. We stay there every time!!!!!

Room Tip: This room is on the first floor of the new hotel and you cant hear anyone else so its perfect!!

Pagosa has to be one of the best hot springs in Colorado. The 23 pools with different temps and feels to each one makes for a nice variety. The only reason I would stay at the The Springs Resort again is for the 24 hour access to the springs. Upon check-in you'll be issued a bracelet which you have to keep on. At midnight all of the non-hotel goers are asked to leave but the bracelet is your ticket to stay as long as you want. The adults only area is very nice, the fire pit is a great touch. We were there on a Saturday night, the hotel was booked solid and there were very few people left soaking after midnight. There was a staff member who was on patrol to monitor the shenanigans... But her efforts weren't very successful. By 12:45 we had seen two different couples engaging in "Rated R" activites.

As for the room... It was average at best. The beds were double size and not very comfortable. The bathroom was very small and had no top lid above the toilet seat which made very limited space to set anything down on. The A/C unit made popping and cracking noises all night long, enough to make me look for the nearest fire extinguisher just in case. The electrical outlets also need an update, our cell chargers would sometimes fall out under their own weight.

Even with the price of the unlimted hot springs access / towels / robes factored in... These old rooms are very over priced for what they are.

This is our second stay here at The Springs Resort. Both times have been in a deluxe room in the long two story building. This trip I noticed they have finished the new Luxury Suites Hotel. While I commend The Springs Resort on the completion of the new Green (environmentally friendly not color) hotel, in my opinion they have really let the other unit go down hill. Pro's: The staff was great and very informative. Seemed very happy to have us with them from the front desk lady to maintenance man. Big room, beautiful grounds and easy access. Con's: Moving toilet, shower faucet about to fall in tub, electronic door lock that activated every 20 min. all night long. Thought someone was trying to come in room but it was just the lock activating. A/C would not keep room cool and it was only a mild day. Not major things at all but for the price it should be better in my opinion.

I have stayed at The Springs Resort for years. It continues to expand and grow, always adding more rooms, updating old ones. the grounds are always clean and the staff is wonderful. Having immediate access to the pools day or night is wonderful!!

The springs themselves -- 23 pools -- all at different temperatures. always able to find one that is right for you.

Be sure to do your homework on the kind of visit you want. Staying at the inn gives you 24/7 access to all pools included with your room rate (which is quite a bit higher than other lodging in the area). If staying for a weekend, staying at The Springs Resort makes the most sense for your $$ as there is no in and out for the springs. You pay each time you come in. If you are going to be staying a longer period of time and are on a tighter budget, look into the week pass for the springs and look for other lodging. this can save you some $$.

I have been staying here at least once a year for the last 25 years, and it was once a Great Place that I heartily recommended to others. Now...room was too hot with unadjustable A/C, wobbly toilet, room door was left open and unattended all day by maintenance, kids were screaming all night on both sides, and encountered repeat-offender gate crashers with kids in the adults-only pools who threaten physical harm when challenged...

NOT VERY RESTFUL, and certainly not worth $189 per night!

I sincerely hope that the owners wake up before it's too late and restore this landmark to its former glory!
