“Great hike with kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

We have been coming to Pagosa for 20 years and took our three to Treasure Falls many years ago. This year we took our kids and grand kids to the falls. A very short hike - just right for kids ages 4 and 7 as long as parents hold their hands at the top where the water can make the trail a little slippery. Fun to see a falls after so short a hike. Not like a high country falls, but again fun for kids as a starter trail.

“Awesome hike-completely free!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013 via mobile

Stopped here on our way to Pagosa Springs from South Fork. Awesome scenery. Took the abandoned trail to the right which was closed [and for good reason]. Spent an hour traversing up the side until we reached the falls only to realize there was a overlook trail that was open on the otherside. Long story short, unless you have climbing expierence, Go left!

“Absolutely amazing!!! Must go!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

This is a very easy hike maybe 30 minutes up to the observation bridge. It is just a tad more challenging to get up to the actual falls and in the water. Incredible photo opportunities so grab your camera and a walking stick! When you arrive there are chipmunks everywhere and if you have granola or nuts they will eat right out of your hands (sit still!). The trial head to the right says closed so use the trail on the left as you face the falls in the parking lot. Read the historical marker and legend of the falls!

“Worth the whole trip - simply awesome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

This was on our "waterfall list" in the area. It is about 15 miles from Pagosa Springs on the road to the Wolf Creek ski area. I have seen it many times frozen in the winter but this was my first time seeing it running. The parking area is very safe and well marked; off the highway to the Continental Divide.
The hike is a tiny bit difficult when you first start just because of the altitude but you get used to it quickly. The trail winds back and forth as you climb up to the falls. The trail was smooth and almost anyone could do it. The trail is lined with natural flowers, choke cherry bushes (watch for bears!), birds, many chipmunks and hummingbirds. Trust me, the top is worth the effort but the trail was great too. The bonus is, coming back is all downhill!
At the observation deck, you can walk out on a bridge that goes over the river. There are benches all along the trail and a bench at the creek inside a small cave. Then you continue up a few more turns and you are at the base of the falls. You can go and wade in the pool at the base of the falls. The water is very cold and just an awesome beautiful sight. The best, it is free and not crowded. Bring your camera!

“a MUST SEE trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

This was the highlight of our trip to Pagosa Springs. Just getting out of the car was wonderful because you can see the falls from the parking lot. However, the short 15 minute hike was worth it. We all went (2 year-old on foot and older) and were all excited by the waterfall at the top. The kids liked the dozens of chipmunks that hang out in the bushes by the parking lot. They are obviously used to handouts from people and enjoyed peanuts. (Take your own peanuts and a camera - pretty cute as the chipmunks will eat out of your hand, even crawl on your lap!)
