“Great trail, easy walk, beautiful views!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

We saw the Piedra River Trail here on TripAdvisor and decided to check it out. We were glad we did! We saw a decent amount of wildlife and were able to take some good pictures. The river and rocks were beautiful. It's a decent ways north of Pagosa. We thought we must have overlooked or passed it, but about 16-17 miles from hwy 160 there it was. It's obvious once you get there. Not something you can miss easily.

“Breathtaking scenery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

Took a guided snowshoe hiking tour with my family. The guide was extremely knowledgable and friendly. In all we hiked about 4 miles into and out of the canyon. The views are simply outstanding and well worth the physical exhaustion you will likely experience when hiking at 9000 feet elevation.

“Lots of room”

and not very crowded - no snowmobiles. Could have spent more time if we had not gotten hungry while waiting for the snow to arrive. Relatively easy beginner slopes, but away from town.

“Natural Beauty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

We trekked on the well marked trail through the river gorge. Depending on snow and conditions, spikes or snow shoes might be needed. Our group had a combination of both. If you enjoy being outdoors, this is a trail you should experience!

“Heaven on earth!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

We are from Denver and have done lots of hikes even in the winter. This one tops are last! Beautiful drive out to the trailhead and definitely worth it. It's beautiful in the snow and the trail was packed a bit so we were ok in ski pants nd winter hiking boots. Though you could snowshoe :)
