Eating at the Plaza Grille was one of the worst restaurant experiences of my life.
There was one server and four occupied tables (one had a party of eight; there were five in my party).
There was nobody bussing tables, and there were three tables that still had dirty dishes on them. There were about five people wandering around behind the counter/in the kitchen, chatting, one of them cooking, none of them helping the server who was clearly overwhelmed. When I asked who they were, she said they were other servers waiting to find out if they would be working that evening.
We waited 10 minutes to order our drinks, then it was another 15 minutes before we could order food. They were out of the first three things I wanted, including their fried jalapenos, which they claim to be their specialty. I ordered a plaza salad, which, according to the menu, had nearly the same ingredients as a chef salad, but when I got it, there was only lettuce, mushrooms and tomato.
We got our food 20 minutes after we ordered. The teenage boy in my group liked the chicken fried steak, everyone else didn't like what they got (bowl of green chile, portabella mushroom sandwich, plaza salads.) We had seen the cook visit the party of eight twice to ask them how everything was. He never asked us.
Here is why we will never go back: while we were eating the server was running around, answering the phone, running the cash register, bringing refills to customers, etc,... There was a couple hanging out behind the counter, then they went out to the patio and sat down. I asked our server if they were the owners, she said "yes." She apologized on their behalf "They are planning a new menu, that's why we were out of so much today."
And during our entire meal we had to endure really loud, really bad top-40 radio.
Dear owners of the Plaza Grille: When you are in your restaurant, and there are un-bussed tables and you have one server working like crazy and a bunch of people hanging around in the back of your restaurant, you need to get to work! Get those tables bussed, make sure your customers are being taken care of, find out why your employees are just hanging around and not helping. After that, you get to go sit down and plan your new menu. And, I sincerely hope that someday, your very hard working and kind hearted server gets a job at a restaurant run by professionals. You don't deserve her. You don't deserve to own a restaurant.
