“If you want home-cooking, this is the place...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2010

We went for breakfast two different days. Absolutely mouth watering!!! This was the only place we found that served green chili. The owner is personable and gets right out there and works with the rest of the staff. The food is delicious and affordable. The restaurant is clean and the atmosphere is homey. You feel welcome the minute you walk in the door. I would definately recommend this restaurant to locals and visitors. Go and eat, YOU WON"T BE DISAPPOINTED!

“Just an Average Local Place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2010

We went twice. The first time the food was Ok but nothing special, biscuits and gravy, eggs, and "meat", the meat was not separate but crumbled into the very floury tasting gravy. My wife ordered eggs, scrambled hard and sausage patties. The eggs weren't really to her liking, not cooked well enough, but the sausage patties were quite good. The next time, as someone's invited guests, she had an English Muffin Breakfast Sandwich that was very much to her liking. My waffle...well I've never really eaten cardboard but this was what I imagine cardboard to taste like. Overall I'd say go elsewhere.

“Home cooked food with the locals”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2009

On the road and desire cooking just like your kitchen? Try the Colorado Cafe. Friendly staff of locals serves dishes that seem right out of the nearby City Market. Average ingredients cooked 'home style' are nothing special. The food filled our stomachs so we could continue our touring activities.

The staff was accommodating and the owners support local teams. Most of the tables were filled with local residents that stop by often. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served.

Very average food, good service, local atmosphere -- it may fit the bill for you.

“Colorado Cafe in Pagosa Springs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2009

The Colorado Cafe is tucked into a small strip mall next to Pizza Hut in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Both times we visited it was packed - mostly with locals who obviously know a good thing when they find it.

The stuffed sopapilla was so good that we made a second trip back to this unknown gem. The sopapilla comes covered with red or green chilis (or a combination of the two). The red sauce is good - the green chilis are excellent. The breading was light and doughy and the filling was well seasoned. The pinto beans and homemade tortilla chips served with it were also flavorful.

While we did not try any other entrees, the breakfest plates, burritos and burgers looked great.

The Colorado Cafe is only open for breakfast and lunch.
