My husband and I took a motorcycle trip from Colorado Springs, Co to Ouray Co the week of June 21, 2004, our second night stop was in Ouray and we chose to stay at the Best Western in Ouray, Co. We booked the hotel through the Best Western website and paid $65 for one night. Upon checking in the lobby was nice, big old fireplace neat. The staff were ok, not overly friendly, they could put a smile on their faces.
Our room was nice and clean. Room came with amenities like an iron and ironing board, alarm clock and coffee maker. T.V.'s are big and oversized, you get Cable, HBO, etc.
The only disappointment I had with this hotel was no continental breakfast!! They do offer free tea, coffee, and cappuccino's in the lobby area in the morning. They have snacks, chips, cookies for sale in the lobby area also.
The views from the hotel rooms are amazing, the mountains around Ouray are breathtaking.
The hotel has a pool and an outdoor soaking tub which is warm water fed from the hot springs in the area. If you use the outside soaking tub be VERY careful getting into it as it is covered in moss that is very SLIPPERY! There are no signs stating "watch your step" the hotel should watch it, potential for law suit seems inevitable.
There is also another mineral hot springs fed jetted hot tub indoors, next to the pool, nice! Gets very hot and steamy fast, dizzy fast too if you aren't careful.
In summary, hotel is nice, clean rooms, beautiful views. Staff could do with a smile instead of making you feel like "god another tourist" attitude. They could also use a continental breakfast for their guests but I guess you can't have it all all the time.
The town of Ouray has some neat restaurants, makes you get out of your hotel and explore.
