Phil & Lucie are great hosts.

We booked this place for 3 nights after reading the reviews. We did have a small glitch on the 1st night, but that was quickly fixed to our content. They even put a 2nd bed in our room, which I don't remember requesting, but was actually thinking it when making reservations! The location is quiet, the outside entrance is convenient and the breakfasts are delicious and substantial.

The only thing I did not like was that breakfast time was not as flexible as we'd like. It's served at 9, but they will accommodate an early departure - unfortunately not as early as 6 a.m. (although they made a good effort!). Maybe that's a message that we should relax more if we stay at a B&B.

Ouray is a treasure and our only regret is not having had more down time to enjoy the B&B and the town. We will definitely return someday and stay with Phil & Lucie. It is a truly GORGEOUS area and there's so much to explore.

Beautiful setting, outstanding breakfast, great location in the heart of Ouray. The Inn Keepers were very friendly and accomodating to all our needs, they even provide guests with a bottle of wine at check in and homemade chocolates. A very relaxed experience. A computer for guest use would be very helpful.

I was at the Black Bear Manor for 7 nights with my brother-in-law from Ohio who wrote a review on June 16. I'm a little slower but wanted to write something too. I echo everything said on the 16th. Phil and Lucie are such excellent hosts -- the best I have ever met. Staying with them made the week so special. Each evening we enjoyed sitting on the deck with Phil and sometimes Lucie and others that happened along.

One would think that 7 nights would be long enough, but if you like to do physical things like hiking, Ouray never runs out of things to do. Already, I'm looking forward to the next trip there. I want to bring my wife here for a winter stay since I understand there are many things to see then too.

Don't bother searching any longer for a B&B or motel. You can't beat the Black Bear Manor.

Black Bear Manor is THE place to stay in Ouray, CO. Phil & Lucie are the most
hospitible folks we have stayed with. They bend over backwards to make sure
your time is all it can be. This was the best B&B we have been to. You will not be
