“European B&B Charm in Mountainous Colorado”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2015

My husband and I visited for a few nights during our honeymoon. The location was perfect Hans and Ingrid were beyond hospitable! The China Clipper was the perfect mix of European charm with their décor, size, and yummy fresh baked muffins =) I absolutely loved everything about their place and can’t wait to return someday!

Truly had an outstanding stay at the China Clipper Inn. Hans and Ingrid went out of their way to ensure we had a lovely stay. Simple but unique touches such as homemade strawberry muffins upon arrival and a breakfast to rival the finest. Thank you so much for making us feel so welcome in your beautiful inn. We can't wait to return!

It truly is a getaway B&B. The house is beautiful, spacious, and very well appointed. The beds were comfortable with great mattresses and those nice, heavy linens and towels that make you feel like you are living in luxury. I would wake up early and have tea in the living room, well furnished, comfortable and a fire burning in the fireplace. And, the best part, breakfast! I was on an ice climbing trip and we delayed our start each day just to have breakfast - from warm blueberry or raspberry and white chocolate muffins, to quiche, eggs Benedict to the simplicity of yogurt and cereal - awesome!

The owners are great, warm, friendly, welcoming - even the music playing in the background beckons you to relax. I was solo, but there were many couples there and they looked relaxed - the place exudes a romantic charm (and with the China Clipper nautical theme throughout it does carry you away to 'somewhere' else). I have been coming to Ouray for over ten years, and this was my first stay here - I will stay again and again. Oh, and after a tough day of ice climbing outside the park - there was nothing better than to sit on the porch and have tea while watching the sun drop down behind the mountains.

Room Tip: I stayed on first floor and it was very quiet. Second floor looked great and I snuck a peak at the C...

My boyfriend and I decided, one a whim, to escape the city for a bit and explore The Western Slope for a weekend. For us, Silverton was the end of the line and Ouray seemed like the perfect town to stop in for the night. Boy am I glad we found The China Clipper in! Having stayed in multiple B&Bs, this had to have been one of the best stays yet. The hosts, Ingrid and Hans, were accommodating, informative of the surrounding area, and very helpful when we arrived well past the check-in time.

We stayed in one of the cheaper rooms downstairs, but we didn't do without. The room offered everything we needed for a comfortable nights stay. The large Queen size mattress was inviting, the bathroom amenities and bathrobes were amazing, and the breakfast was out of this world! Hans made delicious strawberry and white chocolate muffins for breakfast, which were still warm; there was also perfectly scrambled eggs, thick slices of ham, well seasoned breakfast potatoes, and the largest selection of unique hot sauces I have ever seen at a B&B--let alone a restaurant.

The only downside was that we did not have enough time to spend here. We will be back!

The 3 of us (family w/ 18 y.o. son) really enjoyed our stay in this B&B. The rooms are comfortable, quiet and beautiful. The location is great,-just a minute walk from the Main street. The breakfast are tasty, diverse and plentiful. The hosts Ingrid and Hans are great, - helpful, knowledgeable and fun. We'll be back! the place is highly recommended

We stayed here for 3 nights. In a few words: the rooms are nice, clean, quiet. The hosts are friendly, the breakfast is delicious (Hans is a GREAT chef), the location is perfect (near the main street). We will come back.

We have stayed here twice...officially it was March of 2011 and 2012 but have to get a review in! Hans and Ingrid are amazing..one time Ingrid loaned me her own hiking shoes when i was unprepared in the snow. They cook amazing breakfasts and the rooms are clean, adorable and comfy. Love the interior rooms as they are super cozy. They are quick to make Telluride ski reservations with the local discount, we just loved everything about our times here and in Ouray!!
