“Great value and attention to detail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

This hotel is right on the creek/river and the rooms have backdoors and balconies that look over the creek. Open the window to hear the water rushing down the creek.

Bike path and running trail that goes around town is just behind the hotel.

The grounds and rooms are very clean and well thought out. There are grills and picnic tables near the creek along with three hot tubs.

The rooms are surprisingly large with two king beds and a small sitting area with fireplace.

We were so nicely surprised we are planning on extending our stay.

We just returned from our 3rd trip to Ouray and were not disappointed by our third stay at the Hot Springs Inn. With our early bird discount the room was a great value. Two king size beds, a deck that is a few feet away from the Uncompaghre River (we always leave the window open so we can sleep by the roar of the river). Everything is clean, the beds are very comfortable and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast is included and enough to start you off on your day. The hotel is just a short walk to the hot springs next door as well as downtown Ouray. The atmosphere is very laid back, that's why we love it. If you want fancy, it's not the place for you, but if you want a great value in a town that I consider one of the most scenic in Colorado, it is a place you definitely should check out.

We stayed here Memorial Day weekend 2013. The rooms were very nice. They did a great job with the decorations and little touches throughout the property. The beds were really comfy too. The rooms have a deck that overlooks the river. The ladies that checked us in at the front desk were very friendly. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from all the restaurants in Ouray. Perfect for building an appetite or settling a good dinner on the way back!

Room Tip: The rooms are big -- 2 King beds in most.

My husband and I toured Colorado last fall looking for aspen gold and took the advice of fellow travelers and booked a multiple day stay at Hot Springs Inn. This is a well-kept property and was truly a bargain. We enjoyed our upstairs room and balcony overlooking the Uncompahgre River, comfortable beds, and better than average breakfasts while exploring the area. We have visited Ouray many times and this was a much better place to stay than the motel we previously frequented in the center of town. The rooms are long and narrow and felt a little tight at times and the chairs could stand to be upgraded but overall this is a great place to stop off while motoring through the mountains in this area.

The two story walk up hotel is located right on the Uncompahgre River in Uncompahgre National Forest and within a couple of blocks to Ouray Hot Springs Park.

When we arrived at Hot Springs Inn, we were greeted by two friendly women. The lobby was nicely decorated in a western theme and had many unique and interesting things to look at. We were given a map of Ouray with recommendations for dinner. When we were checking in we over heard one of the front desk receptionist tell a caller that there was no vacancy over the next couple of weeks.

Breakfast is served in a room adjacent to the lobby. Five tables had glass tops with a large map of the area with attractions highlighted under the glass. Once again, the area was tastefully decorated in a cowboy / western theme and there was a TV and fireplace. The usual breakfast items are available. There are no lids for the cups or trays available. A staff member saw me trying to maneuver two cups and a plate back to my room ad gave me a large box. By the time I reached my room, the drinks spilled all over my bagel so everything went into the garbage and I gave up on breakfast. The box was dripping all over and I had hot coffee and orange juice all over my feet. Since breakfast is over at 9:30am and we are not early risers, we like to eat breakfast in our room while packing to leave. This arrangement did not work at the Hot Springs Inn.

The ice machine and beverage venting machine are located on the first floor near the stairs. Despite having a hot tub, there was no clothes line in the bathroom to hang a wet bathing suit.

The room is clean and tastefully decorated (not your typical hotel room); however, I would have liked a desk or table and two night tables in the room as opposed to two king beds and two large dressers. There is no place to do any type of computer work or writing. A small table on the balcony would allow a place to put a drink while enjoying the sights and sounds of the Uncompahgre River.

There are many interesting artifacts on the property including the following:

• two covered swings for four with a table in the middle
• several other cowboy themed seating areas that included rockers
• two Weber grills
• three small hot tubs
• two covered wagons

The carpeted room is approximately 400 square feet and includes the following:

• card key for room access
• door to room has a window in it with attractive curtain
• full length mirror by entry door
• night light near entry door
• simple but decorative (not your typical hotel style) curtains on doors and windows
• decorative ceiling fan
• two king beds with king sized pillows with one night table in between the beds
• single sheets
• wall mounted reading lamps over both beds
• regular clock radio (does not charge iElectronics)
• two leather like chairs and a throw to use while sitting in the chair
• mirror over chairs
• coffee table in front of the two chairs
• two six draw dressers
• cowboy themed lamp on top of dresser
• 27 inch TV on top of dresser
• mini refrigerator
• microwave
• sink with log granite top outside toilet / shower room with mirror
• coffee maker on top of granite counter top
• hanging clothes rack with plastic hangers
• two suitcase benches
• cowboy themed runner clothes on top of furniture surfaces
• electric fireplace with cloth runner and cowboy themed lamp on mantle
• granite table with a large mirror and light over it and a coffee maker, supplies and ice bucket
• makeup mirror (non lighted)
• barn door style door on bathroom
• mirror over toilet
• window in bathroom
• shampoo and conditioner, no lotion or body wash
• cowboy themed towel racks, hooks, toilet tissue holder
• large walk-in shower with seats and adjustable shower head (no assist bar)
• heat lamp in bathroom
• private balcony facing the river with two mesh chairs
• cowboy themed hooks on balcony
• cowboy themed pictures
• wall telephone
• mile long river walk
• hair dryer
• iron / ironing board
• no pets
• no smoking rooms
• in room safe
• free WiFi

Hot Springs Inn is a tastefully decorated and a lovely clean property. We would have liked a table in the room, lids for breakfast drink cups and trays, triple sheets. We would definitely stay at Hot Springs Inn again.

Traveled to Ouray for a Mom & Daughter retreat... Found this place to be one of the most affordable and WOW was I surprised at what we got for our money.. The room was beautiful, clean, updated and they had fantastic new beds (2 kings). The fireplace and the view from the deck was just amazing... One of the best places I have stayed EVER!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the relaxing sound of a babbling brook from the deck of our room. Our room had 2 king size beds with a micro, fridge and electric fireplace. The great price of this room also included a breakfast the next morning. The room was very clean and the staff was extremely friendly making you feel right at home. It is a great place to stay!!
