This is the most fantastic place in the world. Everything about our stay at the WIESBADEN was fantastic. I only wish we could have stayed longer. You won't go wrong if you stay here.
Since there wasn't that many reviews on this place, I really didn't know what to expect. But because the Box Canyon was booked out the night we were in Ouray, I choose the Wiesbaden and I'm certainly glad I did. We had the Hill Cottage which was kind of rustic with a full kitchen but very quiet with a porch outside to sit and enjoy the mountains. The vapor caves are a must, these are right under the main building of the Wiesbaden. Also the outside pool is wonderful, because it is all natural mineral water they refill it a couple of times a week which takes about an hour to do. I had a wonderful Aveda Mud Wrap for my treatment and the treatment room was a rock cave with candles all over. My husband (who isn't into Spas) loved this place, and said it was the best stay out of our two week visit to the Southwest. The town of Ouray is quaint with lots of restaurants and souvenir shops and mountain views to die for.
I just might be giving away the best secret I have....I can not tell you enough about how special the Wiesbaden is........I know the Wiesbaden is where I've fallen in love with my husband all over again and again. It is so very romantic. Let me tell you how to enjoy it!
After checking in, go on a quick hike to the Box Canyon Falls. It's a walk from the Wiesbaden and it is truly beautiful. Then head back to the hotel for a soak in the vapor caves or hot spring pool. Now is the time for a massage!! THE BEST!!!! Then it's off to dinner at Bien Tiempo or Bon Ton or the yummy Western Restaurant down on main. They are all great. Great service is expected and received! After a great bottle of wine and dinner...it's off to bed at the cozy Wiesbaden.
Remember they don't have huge rooms..or air conditioning. It's a very simple simple place where the views are spectacular and the fresh air is the best. Be sure to head to the bakery in the morning for perfectly fresh pastries and coffee. I hope you go and have the same experience we have had. We've gone once or twice a year for 20 years and I can not wait til I get to go again!
