Probably a great place if you like Jack Russels. We got there in the afternoon, wanted to take a nap, and everytime the front door opened the two dogs in boxes next to the door started to bark like mad. Why have barking dogs in a B&B, I didn't think that was part of the concept.
Walked outside in the morning before breakfast, came back in to be attacked by,,,,,the Jack Russels. Breakfast was 30 minuts late, and it didn't start until 8:30.
Room is small, food is so so, next time I go back to the box canyon inn.

We are the owners of the Spangler House B&B, in Ouray, Colorado and we would like the chance to rebut this review.
Yes we do have Jack Russell Terriers and guests are made aware of that on our website and in our brochure. In addition, when a guest places a reservation, again he or she is made aware that we have dogs. Ouray is a dog friendly town, so we are not sure how he knew that it was our dogs keeping him from his nap. His room was on the second floor in the back of the B&B approximately 60 feet from the front room on the first floor where the dogs were. We strongly disagree with the word “attacked”. Our 11 year old (very mellow) dogs are in boxes, so we are at a loss as to how he was attacked. The only time that we allow our dogs to interact with our guest is when they first arrive. We ask all arriving guests if it is OK for the dogs to run out of their kennels and “greet them.” If a guest says no then the dogs remain in their kennels. All guests are told upon arrival that breakfast is served from 8:30am to 10:00am. So, based on his words “it didn't start until 8:30” breakfast was not late, but started on time. We often serve breakfast at 8:00am if a guest request, but he did not. He requested a special diet, oatmeal with bacon, and that is what he was served. All of the other guests were served a normal Spangler House hearty breakfast. We make a point to try and meet all special dietary requests of our guests. He was not in our largest room but his reservation was made the day prior to his arrival and it was the best room we had left. This room, for a bed and breakfast, is not abnormally small. It was Oktoberfest in Ouray and the town was heavily booked for the event. We were totally booked that night.
We are very unhappy about this review and we do not think that is a fair representation of his stay with us. In fact, this guest left clothes behind and we immediately called him to let him know. We have mailed the clothes back to him at our expense. We are a new B&B and we strive to meet each guests needs. We would have kept the dogs in our apartment if we had known that he had an issue with dogs.
