In July we stayed at the Spangler House for the second time. This time we were travelling with another couple. It was like staying with old friends. Jill and Steven do an excellent job. The rooms are comfortable and the common areas perfect for relaxingl. The 2 men of our group were heading out early for a 4 wheel drive adventure. Steve made sure they knew how to turn on the coffee pot (in addition coffee was available in the rooms). He also had muffins out that he had baked the night before, cereal and fruit. The ladies enjoyed breakfast at 8:30. There is a refrigerator in the kitchen stocked with pop, juices and bottled water for the guests and snacks out also. The 2 resident dogs were no problem and we had been reminded about them when we made the reservation. The entire B and B is spotless. We really enjoyed ourselves.

We enjoyed a good meal and good music at The Outlaw restaurant on main street. Driving on Hwy 550, the million dollar highway is quite an experince. Fantastic scenery.

Jill and Steven are the perfect couple to run a B&B! The place was spotlessly clean and there are plenty of common areas for reading, playing board games, or just sitting. You never feel like you must "go to your room"! The 2 little dogs are friendly and do what they are told. Being a major foodie, Steven's breakfasts are THE BEST! Too bad he is married...breakfast in bed would be awesome. Lucky Jill. They will also accommodate vegetarians or low-sodium or whatever...just tell them ahead of time. I would definitley recommend this B&B!

My husband and I have never stayed at a B&B before and were somewhat hesitant. We have changed our minds completely. We were treated as if we were friends and were made comfortable and to feel at home. Jill and Steven Scheu were terriffic hosts. The food was excellent and obviously prepared with care. The room was warm and inviting.

We made great friends of their two dogs "Bridget & Maggie". Just like the owners, they made us feel at home. We have never taken a trip that far across the country before and we were so apprehensive, but I must say we will be back. I thank Jill and Steven for the wonderful hospitality and making our first journey so far from home one of the most enjoyable trips we've taken.

Probably a great place if you like Jack Russels. We got there in the afternoon, wanted to take a nap, and everytime the front door opened the two dogs in boxes next to the door started to bark like mad. Why have barking dogs in a B&B, I didn't think that was part of the concept.

Walked outside in the morning before breakfast, came back in to be attacked by,,,,,the Jack Russels. Breakfast was 30 minuts late, and it didn't start until 8:30.

Room is small, food is so so, next time I go back to the box canyon inn.
