First, you have to realize that Ouray is the up-and-coming Aspen of the Southern Rockies. They used to mine gold here; now they're plated in it. Nearly everything in Ouray is expensive (though the parking, amazingly, is plentiful and free). So $89 for a bare-bones, make-your-own-bed, clean-it-yourself one-room cabin is not a bit unreasonable. In fact, if you find better prices, you may wish you hadn't.
The pros: The one-room cabin was beautifully clean. The creek sounded so nice. The wood interior was beautiful. It was plenty quiet and peaceful at night. The bathroom and showers were clean and there were enough of them. The shower fixtures may have been old, but the temperature control was great--and they were free. Coffee and tea are free in the morning. Big ol' hairy doggies are welcome. (Bring your own dog bed). You'll have electricity, heat, and wi-fi. It's close to downtown. The owners and staff are all pleasant and accommodating. They listened to our special requests and granted them happily. One of the owners spent a lot of time with me advising me on where we could go hiking, where we could take our dog, where we could see waterfalls and such--and she left us with maps and brochures. We had a really great day thanks to her!
The cons: The pillows were hard and made my ears hurt. (Bring your own!) Those wood cabins really heated up in sun yet had a hard time cooling, so the plastic-sheeted beds made it feel a lot hotter than it was.
A tip for the disabled: the showers and restrooms are not accessible for those in wheelchairs. Even a walker would be too big. (They're pretty narrow). Try a room in the main building instead.
Why not offer bed linens free? Because these cabins are basically like camping. A lot of people want to save the money and use their own sleeping bags. So if you want bed linens, be sure to bring your extra $5 or $10.
It's hard to find clean accommodations with nice staff in Ouray if you're bringing a large dog and don't have a suitcase full of money. I think we did really well by staying here.
Call them up and explain your wants or needs. They'll try to help you.
